My $80k ocean and club racers thread vanished thread vanished when "Hoppy" got assassinated. Even though I haven't bought a boat yet, I'm sure a few boat buyers had visited the thread and got info about certain boats, including non SA people because it regularly showed up in google searches.

So I will start the thread again, but more general with no budget (or electric toilet) constraints. 

I will also post about boats that had been mentioned in the thread $80k thread and since been sold, if I have any worthwhile info about them.

Not sure whether I want to cheer or scream, but yeah, I did find the thread interesting.

Why not grovel and ask that the thread be restored?  I'm guessing forum admins have the control panel to "unhide" it . . . . I'd vote for that if it would do any good.

Greg Elliott boats

The $80k thread started with a post about the Elliott 10.5 High Anxiety, so it will be the first boat in this new thread.

Elliott 10.5 - High Anxiety 

It is still for sale. The starting price was something like $79k and is now listed at $49k. Given the reputation of Elliott boats I'm a little surprised it has not sold, but it is an old boat (1988) and old boats don't seem to shift so well.  The lifting keel splitting the cabin and original Volvo 2002 will be a negative and perhaps so to the age of the sails, even though they are top quality OneSails.

Mumm 36

Farr/Mumm 36 Corum

Corum is a heavily modified Mumm 36 and was first listed and sold in early 2018. I had the pleasure to inspect her as I was on holiday in Surfers. She was in stunning condition, looked like a 5 yo boat, not 25 year. She was bought by a well known Aus army veteran who did one season with her. He is in his 70's and it was a last fling at racing I believe. Corum was relisted earlier this year. Both times around $80k. Corum now races in Sydney, I think at the Manly yacht club.

This boat seems to be an original Mumm 36 with no mods. It's been for sale for a while and was mentioned early in the other thread. Current price is $70k

TnS is a "turbo" 1D35 that was listed in WA. I has since sold and now resides in Sydney at the Manly YC and races against Corum

Inglis 39 - She's the Culprit

It's been listed for $95k for well over a year. The boat is in great shape and owned by a syndicate. It will do the 75th S2H. I don't think the owners are in any rush to sell and are happy to keep racing until someone offers the money they want. So not a boat to low ball offers.

Was original built for the Melbourne Osaka and was called Top Cat and then 42 South I think

There were a few Northshore NSX 369's and a NS369 that were listed in the 80k thread. One NSX369 from Sydney ended up in Melbourne

NSX36 - The Bookmaker 

This boat has been listed for 2 years I think. Seems to have been very competitive in Melbourne, although it was mentioned to me that it was a big part due to one particular crew member.

When first listed the standing rigging was 10 years old, but it now has new standing rigging.

The price started at 79k I think, eventually dropped to 59k and since the rigging replacement, bounced back up to $69k
