Then it was built in a tin shed in Moorabbin by Joe WesterloYes, came out of Melbourne and dates from the dying days of IMS. Been in NZ 10 years plus but little used in that time. Current owner is a very experienced sailor.
Yep, built like Scavenger, only rough...
I looked after Prowler for a while when Joe moved her up to Sydney back in… 1999?Yep, built like Scavenger, only rough...
The trolley that was used under the hull was interesting, under spec would be a nice way to describe it!Yep, built like Scavenger, only rough...
she is just waiting in a mainsail repair or replacement and will be sailing again shortly. The trolley that was used under the hull was interesting, under spec would be a nice way to describe it!
Scavenger is still sailing in WA so Joe must have done a reasonable job as a boat builder.
There was a kiwi who flew over to help with the laminating so at least one person knew what they were doing.
That area around Woodford Bay was described to me (by Maritime) as having “it’s fair share of characters” and the quality of boat there is in line with that… a nice Etchell washed up on the beach a couple of months ago with all the deck hardware courteously removed in preparation for a new owner, looking for a project…It's amazing (or maybe not) how many boats have been sinking recently up on Pittwater. Is it all the people how bought boats during Covid now leaving them to rot? There's certainly been a lot less rain recently with the demise of El Nina...
Thats a lot of coin for a 33 footer. The local broker did a good job selling these boats new as the original owners are all selling them. To me they are only any good for offshore short handed racing but bot sure if I would want to be offshore in rough conditions. For club racing they just do not perform to their ratingand another SF3300

I think there have been a couple of 3300's that recently were declared winners of club series up in Brisvegas & Sydney(or Pittwater).Thats a lot of coin for a 33 footer. Yeah they go alright up here. I think keeping them light helps a lot.I think there have been a couple of 3300's that recently were declared winners of club series up in Brisvegas & Sydney(or Pittwater).
Given the issues of getting crew some boats have, what's more competitive, a competive fully crewed boat that is missing a few bodies or a boat designed for 2?
I like that in theory my SF3200 can be happily raced 2 up and extra crew is a bonus.
so two fat bastards is not the ideal crewY
