This is pretty fucked up stuff. You can do shit to shaft everyone on the planet ... just don't inconvenience the people doing that while they drive to work in their V8 BM's.

No political interference in our legal system is there?

Coco was on Friday sentenced to 15 months in prison, with a non-parole period of eight months, after she blocked a lane of traffic on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in April.

Human rights advocates labelled the sentence “disproportionate”, with Clément Voule, the UN’s special rapporteur on freedom of association and peaceful assembly, saying over the weekend he was “alarmed” by the sentence and the court’s refusal to consider bail for her appeal until March.

“Peaceful protesters should never be criminalised or imprisoned,” Voule said.

Asked about the jail term on Monday morning, Perrottet said the sentence was “not excessive” and warned others against taking part in protests that “inconvenience people”.

Is blocking traffic on a busy bridge a "peaceful protest?"
Depends on how you do it. Blowing up a van..... No. Standing naked with your boobs painted blue..... Well..... Maybe... Depends on how old/fat/ugly you are I think.
If I did it, I'd sentence me to at least a year.... If the cashier lady at the local Dollar store did it, I'd give her a standing ovation.

Using roadways, bridge or not, is a very common form of peaceful protest.
Feel free to glue your stupid head to the freeway anytime you like. But why is this in PA? Funny stories about stupid cunts normally are posted in General Anarchy. But you Far left nutjobs are very triggered over the last few days for some reason. Why not have a few drinks and a nice little lie down on a couch...

If she shaved her legs and armpits I would tap that.

Way outta your league LB. She wouldn't fuck you even when she get's out after 8 months without a root.

Anyway, consider yourself lucky that you will never have to fail to perform for her. She would break you in half

She may not be getting a 'root' in the traditional sense for the next 8 months but a pretty little thing like her will have a full dance card in the big house. Maybe some of those bull dykes will tongue fuck some sense into her.
Maybe you should bake her a cake with a bong in it.

And this guy doesn't even go to prison.

A former WA politician who obstructed a secret corruption investigation into his misuse of his taxpayer-funded electoral allowance for travel and sex, and tipped off others about the probe, has been handed a suspended jail term and fined $12,000.

OMG. and they call Dan a dictator.

Perrottet said the sentence was “not excessive” and warned others against taking part in protests that “inconvenience people”.
He said the sentencing should serve as a “clear lesson” to people who wanted to protest.

“My view is that those protests literally started to grind our city to a halt,” he said.

“The clear message here, and it is a clear lesson – everyone has the right to protest, but do so in a way that doesn’t inconvenience people.”

Perhaps he gets advice Putin.
NSW Labor aren't any better.

Seriously I've never heard of anyone in Australia being gaoled for months for non violent protest before.

But it is NSW. The Rum Corp state.

What's wrong with spending your electoral allowance on mooring fee's and sex workers?
And telling your mates that you're under investigation when that info is somehow leaked?

The CCC tabled its report on the matter in 2020, finding Edman had misused his taxpayer-funded electoral allowance for personal expenses including lavish dinners, the berthing fees for his yacht, visits to strip clubs, and travel and entertainment for women he met on a matchmaking website.

I believe she only blocked one lane. Hardly intending to bring the city to a halt.

But
New anti-protest laws currently before parliament in the states of Victoria and Tasmania would also invoke harsh penalties for non-violent protest.

Following increased climate protest activity in New South Wales, the government in March 2022 established a new police unit known as the Strike Force Guard. The unit is designed to “prevent, investigate and disrupt unauthorised protests across the state.” On April 1, the state parliament introduced new laws and penalties specifically targeting protests that blocked roads and ports. Protesters can now be fined up to AU$22,000 (US$15,257) and be jailed for up to two years for protesting without permission on public roads, rail lines, tunnels, bridges, and industrial estates.

Wet coast.
15 months in prison for blocking a lane of traffic for 25 minutes speaks volumes about how fearful a government is about climate change protests. Don't look up, then.

It's not about the protest or climate change or any other issue affecting the peasants.

It's about someone missing out on making money.
