It's not about the protest or climate change or any other issue affecting the peasants.

It's about someone missing out on making money.
We do things differently in Victoria.
AFAI can find out, non of the anti vax dickheads that blocked the Westgate bridge that were arrested have been charge.
https://www.theage.com.au/national/...t-clogs-west-gate-bridge-20220720-p5b30f.html and we actually listen to Truckies woes.

15 months in prison for blocking a lane of traffic for 25 minutes speaks volumes about how fearful a government is about climate change protests. Don't look up, then.
It’s about 10s of thousands pissed off commuters, lost productivity and creating a deterrence. Protests like this by lone idiots do nothing but change public opinion against the protests and protestors.

Yes, climate change activists have to find a new way to protest - our old growth logging protestors were blocking traffic here and, while they didn't get long prison sentences, they didn't get the publicity they wanted either.

Long prison sentences should be reserved for folks like our flutruxklan fuckwits who blocked border crossings and occupied the capital for weeks. I hope she appeals her sentence.

They have to get smarter and part of that will be understanding who they can win over to the cause and who will never budge their views. Pissing off the undecided is never going to win them over.

I think the NSW government is out of touch with the electorate. Millennials now form the largest voting block. Conservative parties should be taking heed. They've lost the feds and victoria in the last year . We have huge protests in melbourne that regularly block or reroute traffic. It's part of our culture and only a few people are not resigned to it. The alternative is worse.

A few years back an extinction rebellion clown was staging a protest on a local bridge. He had glued himself to the road and I didn’t see him in the dark and ran right over him. I immediately called the cops and told them I had run over someone and I think I killed him. The cop on the phone said ‘Ok calm down. Firstly let’s make sure they are dead.’
So I backed over him again and said ‘Ok now what?’

So meli thinks that the lunatic left are in power for good because all the young people believe their bullshit. What Meli fails to understand is that they will all change their minds and grow up when they want to own their own home one day. And let’s be realistic - they are not all going to get one in a divorce settlement when their husbands fuck off with a younger Asian chick.

Pray tell on what grounds? Last time when the Magistrate told her she would be facing a jail sentence should she do this again, was he not clear enough?

Should she be given a reprieve because protesters should not be held accountable, or because you agree with her uneducated lunatic views?

Perhaps she could claim this is simply racism. After all Orange is the new Black.

Like the anti vaxer morons that protested she is simply a disillusion attention whore. Well she will be getting all the attention she could ever want right about now.

Punishment should suit the crime, that's all. The time seems excessive, but maybe she gets out a lot faster in the Australian system so they gave her a long sentence to compensate. Most of the people in her position know they will have to pay a price for their civil disobedience, and do so willingly.

It is not her first rodeo and one thing the courts here are good at issuing sentences in line with community expectations. The mainstream community I mean, not the extreme left fringe dwelling nut job community. And exactly what did she think she was going to achieve with this? The immediate cessation of all fossil fuel burning? The abandonment of western society and an instant return to subsistence living by all? No, she simply wanted to get her head on TV and to believe she is some kind of environmental Che Guiana. If she wants to be famous she should shave her armpits and her beaver, have a bath and start an only fans page.

Randumb will need a splash-proof keyboard.

She'll do 8 months without parole.
A suspended sentence is the norm for these sort of actions.
She is a serial protestor but that should not make a difference to the sentance.
This is Australia, almost no one goes to gaol for non violent petty crime even if it's the second or third arrest. And this was barely a crime. A fine would be the norm.
