"I look forward to continuing the fine work done....building on the legacy" No surprises there... no likelihood of reform...more of the same....I'm not sure what drives people to seek out such roles if change is not the goal...but I'm sure they have their personal agenda. Nobody gets to the top of such a conservative organisation by threatening to rock the boat....happy to be proven wrong

Always important to note that the President is not elected by even voting members.
The President is elected by his fellow directors.

16.7 Election of President and Vice-President

a. The Directors shall elect one of their number to be the President by a majority vote.

b. The Director elected to be President under clause 16.7(a) will remain President for the duration of their term of office as Director and shall chair any meeting of Directors unless the resolution electing a person as the President specifies a fixed term for the appointment.

The directors are hardly going to elect a President which will call them to account for their incompetence, dishonesty and wilful blindness..

Well my discussion point is that the AS MPP could actually be used against AS themselves, in the right circumstances. I actually have one half filled out against a particular person (not an AS person) so it could be used to stop consistently bad behaviour by competitors. I wish I still had copies of emails from CYCA threatening me!

On the other hand it could be used by AS luminaries to ban double handed sailors who speak out.

It's not about the work or money, just the power trip you get from screwing around local racers.

And you can get chummy with GRS

I feel sorry for the local racers so I'm definitely unqualified for *that* job. If anything I'd issue an edict that all clubs had to provide unlimited SailPasses on request and were totally forbidden from charging for them. AND they had to give full reciprocal recognition to other club members.

As for GRS, we've never met and I expect both of us are content with that.

Don’t have a problem with so called member rules but I might write and ask AS if they could define lawful discrimination but then they’d probably say that’s what we use to keep sailors out of any discussion, voting, direction, control or otherwise of OUR organisation. We are there to serve them. On another point GRS has gone quiet.

Well when you are the company secretary of Australian sailing Ltd, and the World Sailing Judicial Committee recommends an investigation into your conduct in bringing a protest you should keep your head down.

and funnily enough when i looked a few days ago, the hyperlink to that decision no longer works.

Clearly the new President is keeping up traditions.

Nepotism can be a healthy trait but in this case it clearly isn’t.
