I am sure the English Premier league are shitting themselves. It has a tiny presence here in Aus as well but it is only cunts who are to fat and soft to play rugby that want to play dress ups.

That's one way to view it, or the Ozzie rules football (what rules ?) as sport for those too wimpy to play lacrosse or hockey. Since you seem sensitive on the subject, perhaps the Victorian and quaint was too close to the avatar. If I recall there was quite a bit of bashing of tradition a few pages back in this lament on the decline of sailing down under.

Cupcake I think that Australian Rules is just as gay as American football. Without doubt the most stupid set of rules of any game played. Why the fuck do they have to bounce the ball every few steps like some fag basketball player or tackle like a girl? If you would calm down and read the post I was talking about Rugby- League or Union, either would horrify homos who have to wrap themselves in cotton wool and helmets to get hit. Yes but I heard they took advice from the late John Clarke and made it the 94m event. They then added a compulsory second event: 206m. The results are then amortized over the combined 300m. Problem solved. I believe Mr Wilson is building the track.

How about a sailor that has won 9 world championships is a gold and silver medalist at 2 Olympic’s, multiple regatter winner at the most of the major dinghy regatters all over the world, one of the first Australian Olympic team members picked for Tokyo 2020, Has been ranked in the top 5 of his chosen class for the last 10 odd years and spends his time giving back to the youth classes when home and not competing overseas and does this with a great smile at no cost to the home club.
So a 15 year old 3 times Opti world champion sailor or Matthew Belcher
please tell me who you think is far more deserving winner ?
Yes I’m Australian and I know Matt personally and Matt was also nominated this year as well.

By no means am I saying Matt is not deserving of this because he 100% is an absolute legend. As evidenced by the fact that he has also already won the award.
So this year he is nominated for winning the worlds and europeans, and hempel series. Which by his standards is a pretty average year. He didn't even win an Olympic medal.
But judging by whats gone before in this thread everybody on this forum hates Olympic sailing and WS/AS support of Olympic sailing over the poor deprived yacht owner so that eliminates Matt from the running.
Anybody winning 3 world championships in a row is an impressive feat. The fact Marco did it in the Opi when usually these fleets are dominated by the oldest most experienced kid.
And the argument that this sets a bad example is bullshit. Instead of awarding it to an Opti kid because it promotes World Sailings love of the Olympics and the pathway to the Olympics we should instead award it to an actual Olympian?

We don't necessarily hate Olympic Sailing; it has its place somewhere in the grand scheme of sailing as an overall sport.
What we hate is the disproportionate amount of funding, coaching and hot air emphasis that is directed towards Olympic Sailing to the continuing detriment of grass roots sailing. In Australias case Olympic Sailing sends about a dozen sailors to a regatta once every four years, sometimes they do really well and other times they suck but that doesn't ever change Aus Sailing's emphasis.
It would be interesting to chart how many new sailors come in to the sport and then leave it, disillusioned, within a 4 year Olympic cycle. That is a problem that needs far more attention and funding than the ludicrous and indefensible imbalance we see now.
