Winds at those altitudes are typically over 100kts...and pretty predictable. They knew where this was going.

I am making fun of this fiasco because until we know better, the only clowns in the story are those making a big deal out of it. Ballowing it way-way-way out of proportion ;)
Couldn't you have inserted a few more juvenile insults in there, mocking the Chinese people?

Come on, you know you can do it. So do I. Give it the old college try.

I am mocking the reaction to the f'ing balloon, not 'the Chinese.'

Am giving credit to them for now, when they apologized while saying it was an errant weather balloon. By far the most dangerous 'hot air' rhetoric has been from here in the States, much of it for reasons that can't yet be grounded in any security risk proof; it's just the normal bullshit but now exaggerated because they can make people think the sky could fall from the sky on them!

The by-far worse recent news here was that f'ing train derailment in Ohio.

I wish he would not bother but given the hot rhetoric over this f'ing balloon I suppose Uncle Joe will have to mention it in the SOU tonight. Hopefully he will frame it in a proper perspective.

Stingray~ seems to have found a kindred spirit in JT/No.6/Peter Anderson.

Stingray~ - You gotta ask yourself "Do I really want to be associated with the likes of him?"

Seriously, you're better than that.

You are completely misunderstanding me, am just for now giving China the benefit of the doubt until we know more. And yes, mocking the threat implied in the balloon fiasco, by mostly just RWNJ hotheads.

Am also not 'associating' myself with Xi or anything he may be after. But we do need to try compete on good terms for the betterment of everybody. Why can't we all thrive?

I’ll agree we (American people)overreacted, taken by surprise due to military secrecy, I’m skeptical China is in any way innocent or honest. I think the military knew what the device was capable of from the balloon / underpowered blimp or whatever it was that crashed off Hawaii. Unfortunately hysteria forced us to kick the door closed on the spies ass, a weak sort of message.
edit. I also feel they got little info they couldn’t get from renting a Hertz and going for a drive, combined with Tik Tok and their network hardware with back doors.

so your own government has confirmed and described it imas a navigable 'spy' balloon that has purposely aimed for military installations and entered sovereign airspace carrying an unknown payload which could be a few thousands pounds of God knows what by a foreign adversary stated as the worst threat to America.
The days before a huge state summit meeting. None of which was divulged until some Montana ranchers first notified the public. Meanwhile the NSA admits they miss a few of these from tine to time.

And you and your fellow stoners wearing Che tee shirts in college say
'Give China the benefit of the doubt its a harmless weather balloon'.

You just can't make this shit up.

You all had recent ancestors that gave their lives in wars on foreign soil to preserve democratic principles and sovereignty who if alive today i'm sure would have a different point of view. And say ' I died for these assholes?'

Sorry. you can't fly a giant piece of shit over someone else's country.
Unless Sleepy J is in charge.

China made it clear, which was their goal to find out, is that the US reacts like a Chinese Fire Drill over a balloon. I'm sure they were very happy to see that and are seeing how that fits into their advantage.
