You know what I am most delighted about: Finally these "Conspiracy Theories" by Stingray will stop.

But I am sure that he & his cohorts like sunseeker and others will find something else to bitch about.

Consistently attacking European Venues wasn't very helpful in this process.

Now hopefully we can put this behind and start celebrating :)

I'll rephrase then. If most voters don't want more tourists, how can bringing in more tourists be a political promotional platform?
Exterior promotion, the interior politics are already managed differently.

But no more politics here, I'm glad the Cup is back in Spain, and this time, unlike 2007 when I could not attend because my asshole boss didn't let me, I'll spend some time there for sure...

Truly a sad day.  Auckland deserved the cup and ABNY is a deadman walking.  This is the end of a nice era for New Zealand sailing. NZ will never sail in another AC after this next one, and many will claim they are not sailing in this one either.  Dalton, with his ego has insulted the people of New Zealand in the search of money and to "punish" Auckland for making him explain where he spent tax payer money.  Dalton chose the details and the costs and then used it as an excuse to move the cup off shore.

Although it has been rumored here it is rare to see the Team France possibility posted elsewhere. From https://www.courseaularge.com/americas-cup-la-coupe-de-lamerica-se-deroulera-a-barcelone.html

France could have a card to play on this 37th edition. Stéphan Kandler, who had set up the K-Challenge, which later became Areva Challenge, could announce a possible French challenge.

I think the Kiwis will get over this. Why? When I was in VLC 2007 I couldn't believe my eyes how many New Zealanders were there to support the Team.
That was for a challenge!  It was still for the people of NZ.  This is a defense that was moved away from NZ on purpose.  the fanbase will be greatly diminished.

an average wind range of 9-15 knots during the September and October race window, made the city completely fit for purpose.
Weren't we expecting more like May/June, in line with the best period for sea breeze?

September/October is outside the main European holiday period and the economic advantages of that are obvious. For the sailing, not so much.

I've fancied a walking holiday in Mallorca for a while. It could all fit together.

European venues are fine, just make them win the fckg cup to earn the right to host it.

Yes, I think most of us were expecting months closer to how Valencia did it, May/June. Sep/Oct could work well enough, the summer heat will have eased by then.

Yes, the ferry and cruise connections from Barcelona are pretty amazing.

On dates, this gtran from Italian puts it this way (below). They have a more biting article at here.

The America's Cup 2024 will take place between September and October in Barcelona . It will therefore be the Catalan city to host the next edition of the oldest sports competition in the world, which will be staged in a couple of years. Pay attention to the dates , which are a little different than what you might have expected: you will not go into the water between spring and early summer, but between late summer and early autumn.

A window probably designed not to go too close to the 2024 Paris Olympics (26 July-11 August), focusing on the period immediately following the Games and which could enjoy excellent media visibility. Among other things, the temperatures and wind conditions should be lenient in those two months in the Spanish latitudes, reasons that have found further approval by Team New Zealand.

Don't act like you give a shit about "the people of NZ". The fanbase, the same fanbase that always has supported the team will continue to support the team. The same haters that bag the team at every team will continue to do the same. Come race time, the fanbase is ALWAYS larger than the vocal minority of haters.

Fuck off. Your fake outrage for Kiwi's is fucking laughable.

Don't act like you give a fuck. You're using NZ to justify your hatred of Dalton and Team NZ. Get fucked.

Some people here have apparenly quickly forgotten that the America's Cup 2013 in San Francisco was also contested between late Summer/Early Autumn.

I did not see any bitching about then BUT now ETNZ is doing it everybody is holding up their hand. Ridiculous!

“I must acknowledge the absolute commitment of the other final host city candidates, Cork in Ireland, Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Malaga in Spain and all of the phenomenal people that were behind the bids putting in so much effort to illustrate the exciting vision for their cities and for the America’s Cup. But in the end a difficult decision had to be made to select only one.” said Grant Dalton.

Slightly awkward  for those kiwi supporters that were utterly adamant that Jeddah was never in the running, not even considered and purely made up by TE..

come on Four, apologise to the group for being completely and utterly wrong ;-)
Even more embarrassing for those who said Dalts would be forced back to Auckland because no one would be interested.

come on JAL, apologise to the group for being completely wrong and utterly wrong;-)
