Except (whimsically changed) it's not a 75 now...The protocol is a contract and says AC75, not some design that can be whimsically changed

He sure as fuck wanted the NZ Government to be his main sponsor.Dalton understands sponsors better than anyone. He has delivered for his main sponsors - the corps that have been loyal to him for many years. It may come as a surprise to some, but NZers, and the NZ Govt are not his main sponsors.
He asked, they said no, he moved on...What else was he supposed to do?He sure as fuck wanted the NZ Government to be his main sponsor.
My understanding is that the sponsors are ponying up 80mill, and the venue 120mill.Or was someone else going to front up with more than 200 mill?
You said that NZers needed to understand the NZ Government wasn't the main sponsor. He asked, they said no, he moved on...What else was he supposed to do?

As has been pointed out numerous times. His sponsors, Emirates, Omega etc weren't going to pony up any more cash for an event in NZ. Since the NZ Govt wasn't interested in sponsorship, he had to go OS.I just pointed out this is exactly what he did want. His demand was for the full 200 or he would walk. Almost as if he always planned to piss off and just needed to find the excuse.
It appears from very early on Lord Dalton was seeking $200M cash but with him finding $80m leaving the begging bowl requiring $120m to fill it up.You said that NZers needed to understand the NZ Government wasn't the main sponsor.

Kiwis, don't give up. There is a ray of hope. Jim Ratcliffe really enjoyed his time in New Zealand .
Strange how the 80 mill appeared after telling NZ to fuck off for being skinflints. It appears from very early on Lord Dalton was seeking $200M cash but with him finding $80m leaving the begging bowl requiring $120m to fill it up.
The 80 was part of the negotiation. The cost was the cost, as was stated in the press release. Of the 200, the team was prepared to raise 80 themselves. You read too much into the situation as usual. Too focused on hating that you didnt read what was actually in it, but only saw what you wanted to see.Strange how the 80 mill appeared after telling NZ to fuck off for being skinflints.

I hacked Lord Daltons Spotify account...
There's references to wind and shots of some water along with a fat lady singing.

for what it's worth. the olympic venue from 30 years agoFrom there,
an average wind range of 9-15 knots during the September and October race window, made the city completely fit for purpose.
That looks like it could be a bit much for these pinnacle of sailing yachts...for what it's worth. the olympic venue from 30 years ago

I though LR was not happy with flying monos. Too complex, too expensive. You cheerfully assume they were free to do so. The CoR gets a say too. So, having ponied up an entry fee, do the other challengers. The protocol is a contract and says AC75, not some design that can be whimsically changed.
True, and Montserrat Caballé, for that matter.Hot Damn, the world is a poorer place without Freddie Mercury
Not sure what the discussion is about, but:I though LR was not happy with flying monos. Too complex, too expensive.
Yup, Patrizio had very much doubt initially about the AC75 Concept but was won over after he saw them race. Not sure what the discussion is about, but:
Patrizio Bertelli said he overcame initial doubts about the high-tech foiling monohulls, and hoped they would be around for a decade...
