This is just big, big nonsense from you! The AC40 is only crewed by 5 People and can be from what I've read similar packed up and then flown around the Globe like the F50 Sail GP is using.
So flying teams and boats around the world for yacht races that have zero bearing on the cup are not a pollution problem? Seems like blowing tonnes of co2 into the air for a few vanity races.

All while building a hydrogen 'green' support boat that can't do any actual support. They should just admit the whole event is bad for the climate, but that they don't really care.

Unfortunately honesty is a rare thing these days. Like most of the race supporters, they bleat on about how we must do something, then support an event that wastes resources on a monumental scale.

in the grand scheme of things the total carbon footprint of the Americas cup is insignificant - the only lever they have to pull is perceptions. Air travel in total is about 2% of all global emissions, you can make much bigger gains worrying about and improving the other 98%.

but once all is said and one, the carbon footprint of an AC regatta in Barcelona is probably by design way less than one in NZ due to the travel distances. Except it maybe wouldn't end up like that because you will get 10 times the crowds travelling there but by shorter distances. Some marketing gurus could spin that either way.

So, more wins for, Barcelona then. Seems fair.

I posted recently how the Port of B is moving towards enabling electric ferries, this is a nice sign too:

The World Ocean Council chooses Barcelona as the world capital of the blue economy - El Canal Marítimo y Logístico (www-diarioelcanal-com.translate.goog)

Barcelona has been chosen by the World Ocean Council (WOC) to establish its world headquarters, and as the city where it will hold its global and leading blue and sustainable economy events . The WOC is a non-governmental and non-profit business organization, world leader in promoting the sustainable maritime economy, which will work a large part of its activity from Barcelona for the next 4 years (2022-2026).

worldwide
Spain , and in particular Mediterranean Spain , has a strong environmental awareness

I notice it right away when moving from a Spanish shipyard into an American one

The  handling of waste is superior in Spain

even the smallest ports are MARPOL compliant

I guess flying all those teams and boats all round the world is some of the environmentally green parts of the event.

Maybe this is what the hydrogen boats are for, transport between venues...
Well its like flying world leaders/ politicians around the world for an urgrnt climate change summit right? Or as SailGP does, or as every sailing event does, transporting boats and crews around the world while pushing an environmentally friendly agenda. It is what it is.

Everyone knows that Team NZ will be putting their new AC75 on an Antonov aircraft sometime in 2023 and flying it to Barcelona - and they will make a media marketing blitz to boot.....but we have these beautiful $2M Hydrogen boats that probably are filled with materials deems hazardous waste.

Or possibly not?

Teams have used the slightly smaller AN 124's in the past. I believe 7 were built. edit: that 7 is incorrect, there were 11 variants built or prosed and so likely more. I think teams have been using the most commercial, AN124-100 version.

So because others are hypocritical wankers that lie through their teeth it is okay for your team to have the same low morals?

Each to their own, I just prefer different values.

Like bitching and moaning about every little thing while supporting the entire event like you do?
