Lol, I asked you a question and yes he is was your reply, this was while you were maintaining that dan is a kiwi and that glen was bought in hired help and if he wanted to go back to Oz it was fine as he was a Merc just doing a job

Ah i never used the term mercenary. You did. He isnt a mercenary, and he was hired in 2011.

In your dreams, Stinger. As soon as the NZ public see that TNZ has the legs again, those 'disaffected' by the move offshore will be back in front of their screens again, screaming their heads off. And as 4OS suggests, they'll be lining Queen Street to a three-peat, ticker-tape parade.

Winners are grinners, as they say.
Still remains "post of the month" on this thread

Joan Vila: "Having the Cup in Barcelona excites me because I didn't expect it"

Barcelona, Apr 18 (EFE).- Barcelona native Joan Vila, the only Spaniard to have won the America's Cup and the Volvo Ocean Race, acknowledges, in an interview with EFE, that the 37th America's Cup to be held in Barcelona in 2024 , is a competition that makes him "very excited" because he was not expecting that the Catalan city would host the event.

An AC40 World Series Regatta in Auckland seems more like a Pipe Dream to me. With Emirates Team New Zealand & Alinghi slated to be in Barcelona by the Summer of 2023, INEOS Britannia moving to Mallorca for the 2022/2023 European Winter and then to Barcelona by Summer 2023 and Luna Rossa staying in their Home Cagliari Base before moving to Barcelona the chances Auckland gets an ACWS Event are very small and dim because none of the 4 Challengers wants to move their Equipment halfway around the world to have a one-week Event. I can't imagine Sir Jim Ratcliffe/Ainslie/Bicket agreeing to that.

All 4 Challengers would have to suspend their Testing & Training Programme. Conversly if the World Series Events are being held in Malaga, Jeddah or Cork Challengers can still train and ain't compromised.

Just a pile of dreams, unwilling to accept that the time of NZ involvement in the cup is over.
Duncan Johnstone is likely parroting GD again, this time trying to sell the idea Auckland should pony-up to pay for an ACWS event despite the big middle-finger given to that city. Good luck, I guess.

I bet they have as hard a time trying to find lucrative-enough AC40 venues outside of Auckland as they did to find (by last minute luck, basically) a venue for the AC37 event. The AC40's are no more attractive than TP52s, RC44s, the new Persico's, or any other regatta.

But maybe men in Jeddah (pushed-for in that article too) are really keen to watch the spectacle of women racing, if GD can throw that in? :D

Cagliari would seem a logical spot for an ACWS this time, as with last time, but it seems GD has burnt even that bridge. Malaga could work for a weekend.
