Not sure what his bitching about continual bad press is about either. Seems he expected every move by the team to get smoke blown up his arse for being so amazing.

Getting happier by the hour that they have moved on. Not sure some of the Spanish power groups will be as accommodating as they seem to expect.
RG must surely be getting overwhelmed by GD in phone conversations and being convinced by that POV. He may even have been getting paid to toe the line; may still be. Duncan Johnstone may have been getting paid too. Just a guess, obviously.

MW appears to be headed to a paid gig with ACE (with GD somehow still as CEO) and that does not surprise me either, given his sometimes-gushing about Jeddah and other BS.

Oh well :)

VS was fun to see here again recently but the guy I thought was the best AC writer during AC32 Valencia was Justin Chisholm. I hope he steps up again, even if it is under the ACE umbrella.

Interesting that nobody has commented on the fact that the venue shopping began in May 2020, a full 10 months before AC 36 was sailed!

That is not what GD is claiming....  This catches him in an out right lie!

Also, they mention directly how GD had animosity towards the NZ Government and press about being challenged on their actions in the last cup.

This all reenforces the idea that Grant really wanted out of NZ and money was just used as an excuse.
Waaaa fuckin waaaa its called being pro active. Every good leader does it. Deal with it.

The Americas Cup is being defended in Spain, and the All Blacks are now part owned by American Investment firm Silverlake. Anyone who thinks its not about money is kidding themselves.

In the wild.
That Marc Wintermantel guy will probably get along very well with Stan Honey, or they may already been friends. And they will probably be consulted on various other matters, during a beer or cava.

"Surprising" that people like Honey continue to whore themselves out to that pimp Dalts, they must be getting paid well, eh Shitslingers.

Just a guess, obviously.

Oh well :)

TE confirmed this yesterday on his show, after chatting with MW.

Also: Apparently K-France is one of the teams in talks with Artemis Technologies about purchasing an HSV. That suggests they are serious about trying to enter, you don't need them for the WAC or YAC events in just AC40's.

from there, bold mine, maybe they could instead use experienced pro's and pay their living quarters and etc? Very cool job if you have time for it but am hoping we don't see just clowns with varying quality at the different venues..

If you think you have what it takes, live in one of the team locations, and can commit to being on-call weekdays, weekends, and holidays, in order to never miss a sailing day, forward your CV, and references to [email protected]

This part, bold mine again, makes me wonder if the material will be made available to all of us too? Hope so..

The Recon Management Panel selects a team of two, one RIB driver and one Photographer / videographer to shadow each team on each and every sailing day, collating reports, photos, videos, and interviews which are then uploaded to a single source for all the teams to view and process independently.

Wow that might be a good source to speculate (our real skill here on SA?) on/with. Have to get an insider to pass it on in return for our great ex-pert ease. (A drip under pressure?)

Yes, the whole Recon Team idea and Recon Team personnel subject is fun to speculate about. It sounds like the material will be made available to the teams and for promotional purposes like 'Sail To Survive' or whatever, we may not get access to the raw material but am hoping we do.

There's a reasonable chance we will get footage from the various locales from non-affiliated amateurs as in the past, several from in Auckland most recently, MyIslandHomeBermuda as another example. The 'Dolphin' guy in Valencia 2010 as another. And the Kiwi in SF who filmed a whole bunch on the Bay, even including Oracle's B2 flip disaster.

If homeboys like RG are involved then things could get interesting too, like as in 'what are you holding back and who is bribing you to do that?' :)

I have no idea how to run a drone but may get into it just for fun, for when I visit BCN during what may be the buildup to the CSS. Buzz the track, buzz the bases, try not to hit all the other drones in the way :)

If you do get a drone get one with dual vision so you see depth as if you are sitting in it. My grandson has one and he can fly between branches of trees following birds in flight. He tells me there is calk and cheese difference. It gives you the ability to fly amongst stuff with reasonable accuracy.

Interesting. I was wondering why MW's daily newsletters stopped.

Then Leweck posted something about maybe it was time to sell scuttlefuck. Of course, knowing he's seeing Scot running around with all his new toys post SA sail has to really eat at him, so maybe Dalton will buy off Leweck too. Leweck will sell out to anyone who will pay him money, he has loved being a blogger for ISAF/WS, which is why you almost never see anything critical of WS or US Sailing in 'butt.

No idea about Leweck but again, I think MW is a good writer and has a good gig, am happy he will be writing for ACE. His Alinghi article about 'Swiss Precision' was a touch over the top but then he has that booster-enthusiasm for most subjects - and why not.

Rumor is that France will announce before June 30.

Seen on Instagram today, still curious about what teams will get what bases

I think this is really a bad idea.

They try to claim it is to reduce costs, but it really reduces the type and quality of information that you can gather.

You have one driver and one photographer on each boat that will be taking generic shots of the AC75.

Are the teams able to request reconnoissance of specific areas of interest? For example, NZ had an advantage with the sail extending down below the bottom of the mast, will some generic photographer capture the way it was tuned at various angles of attack and speed based upon wind conditions? What if an AC is sailing with asymmetrical foils, will a generic photography capture the possible differences in the angle of the foil arm during maneuvers, the changes in timing of the foil drops, etc...

It will be very difficult, if not impossible for a competitive team to measure the specific performance details from these generic photographs.

Does that mean it is a level playing field? If everyone gets the same information. It might also mean secrets are kept more easily, That is a good thing surely? Means that the boats will be different, which means more learning overall?

Of course the boats will be different, apart from the one design parts of course.

The problem is that MW will obviously only be a promoter for all things Dalton. There simply won’t be any objectivity.

Dalton’s goal is to reduce HIS costs, while handicapping every other team.

Mission accomplished.

Dalton is a pimp.
