Do you remember the very-naked ACE aggression against the CoR Luna Rossa, when they wanted to stick to the Chall race schedule despite that on-site and on-water visitors would be restricted during those designated race days?

The relationship with LR was one of many breakdowns that happened and if that same ACE structure happens for during AC37, well then good luck dealing with Ineos and with Barcelona. That aggression-filled structure and strategy failed. ACE needs new blood.

The only one it failed for is LR. LR lost on and off the water. They have nothing to show for their difficulties. No Americas Cup, no CoR position, no influence over anything. They had a seat at the table, and they lost that too. They failed.

There were sports teams in and out of the fortress. But no event apart from the cup.

The treatment of LR for just asking for the agree rules to be complied with was an embarrassment as a Kiwi. It was just further proof that it was all a money game. Fuck the actual event, just make some moolah. The more the better.

Team New Zealand is taking the base by the World Trade Building
Team Ineos is taking the Cinema (building is to be torn down - next to the Aquarium)
Team Alinghi - although currently working in the Nautical Building, they are taking the MB92 base
Next on the clock: Team Luna Rosa - they can choose between the Imax Parking lot, Garimaldi Port or Nautical Building.
After them - Team American Magic
After them - Team France

^^But just yesterday you were suggesting Alinghi wasn't keen, and Barcelona was suddenly getting cold feet, and maybe Barcelona was suddenly going cold on Dalton and Team NZ all because you're impatient! Because theres no news coming out, suddenly everyones turning against Team NZ and the AC. Just because you can't see anything happening that means there isn't anything happening. Maybe you're just not as important as you make yourself out to be!

It would be interesting to know which if any of these bases provide easy access to the public/ media & which teams have them, either by choice or design.

As a challenger it's a pathway to success - to play your own game, avoid the cor/defender controlled ace authority if possible & win over the public.
(A fast boat helps too)

Teams with spectator access to their location can have family open days with virtual sailing & cycling setups, free ice cream for kids, team shop etc
Splash some cash, create a buzz, make it a sophisticated attractive place to be " win the crowd "

This is where the hydrogen boat come into their own - the perfect vehicle for teams to woo local officials, media & politicians with.
Not to mention sponsors, socialites, film stars, wives gfs, local celebrities etc etc.
A clever team would order two.

Haven't taken the time yet to try map the locations mentioned so far but it sounds like Alinghi is using one place for now and will move later once 'MB92' becomes available.

It would be interesting to know which if any of these bases provide easy access to the public/ media & which teams have them, either by choice or design.

You and anyone else are obviously free to map and detail these places out in the Port of Barcelona. Could be fun, there's not much else going on right now and this is a cool pointer.

me: I saw a rumor somewhere that said Alinghi apparently wants one of the bases in the shipyard - one of the farthest away points from ETNZ. Any ideas where that is? From a guess by me some time back, maybe this Alinghi base preference will be the location depicted farthest-left. If the rumors so far are true then from left to right (basically south to north) in red we'd have Alinghi, AM, LR, Ineos, ETNZ. If French-K happens, maybe the top yellow.

The world trade building - is the large building on the centre wharf in this Pic, where the media centre & ace will probably operate from too.
The small inlet across the bay is mb92 - marina barcelona situated on 92 the passenger de Jian de borbo - a shipyard for visiting yachts & vessels, the new alinghi home.
Ineos at aquarium point (just north of centre wharf)
Luna Rossa on the other side of the wharf indicated by the third red line, where the Grimaldi company is.
Which just leaves American Magic & Team france to be decided (as per latest information)

The Nautical Building is at the end of a distant pier (south of the Grimaldi wharf)
I think Luna Rossa will be happiest with the Grimaldi 😀
There might be room on Aquarium point for two teams .
