I saw this in another post. Is it a super yacht construction facility or just a big service yard? Also an attached dry dock for the big MoFo's?

MB92 at the top of your photo is owned by Ernesto's sister or some close relative. This is supposedly Alinghi's top pick for their base selection. It is a big service yard.
In that case the facility Alinghi are running out of for now must be temporary and likely the one most easily available for in their short timeframe to launch?

Some reports in Spanish suggest that many bases will not be available until late ‘23.

IF Alinghi (next in line) is still deciding what more-permanent to choose, and with no obvious deadline in the rules, well.. LR (next) and AR (next after LR) could be, umm, left drifting?

Who are you talking to? All I did was post an article and you chime in with this crap!?
4, you are a victim of the double ignore "feature". Dg was replying to gissie, who must have you on ignore. Dg was actually responding on your side of the discussion, whilst gisard was just spouting venom as usual.

I don't have anyone on ignore, never seen the point. If you can't handle differing opinions what the fuck you doing on a website like this.

The reality is dickwads like 4 are such weak little pricks they can only deal with those that agree with their pathetic little thoughts.

Doesn't worry me though, certainly cant be missing much, unless he has grown up suddenly. Certainly not going to cry about it like Bitter does.

Cataluña in general and Barcelona in particular are probably the most corrupt region in Europe. And I say "probably" because I don't know about the corruption in all of Europe.

And wait till you meet the city mayor...
OMG. Spanish nationalist denigrating fiercely a Spanish region and city on an international forum. That's what they call "patriotism". And no, he's not moved by political interests...

The French do not have to put up the money unless they have been officially accepted as Challenger and we don't know that. There has been no Statement either from the RNZYS/ETNZ or K-Challenge France meaning that they are likely not to be there. Richard Gladwell reported last week that according to a List he apparently optained only INEOS (CoR), ARBR, LRPP and AM have challenged before the 23.59 NZT July 31st Deadline.

Didn't they learn anything about how sketchy the sailing can be in Barcelona from the Olympics in '90?

I think those Olympics (in '92?) were held in the spring. Yes, 'sketchy' is the word for especially in Aug/Sep/Oct... am sure this will come up a lot!

Some say the sea runs in a different direction from the prevailing wind during those months, as one complication. Another is how, if they do run the races off the beach as depicted in the early diagrams, the sea backwashes off from the breakwaters. Shirley R discussed it with several folks in a 2 part podcast shortly after the venue announcement, she was in those Olympics.

I would have competed in the 1992 Olympic Sailing if not for local team politics and the reports of nasty sailing conditions as in this article. Rats in the waters both in Barcelona but not near as nasty as the rats on our Olympic committee. I was pretty sick of both after having earned selection on the Tornado Cat but was not a member of the yacht club which was pulling the strings...

Yikes! From the videos I have seen anyway, it looks clean nowadays. Even the Old Port area has good facilities, nice greenery plantings, clean streets and pedestrian walkways, and decent bars. The beach is popular too including for in-water activities.

that was quick.
? Maybe so. Again the choices were in order of entry and each base location must surely have considerations to weigh. Timing being one, both the Ineos and Alinghi choices may not be ready for a good while.

Am mildly curious about LR’s choice, I had guessed earlier that they’d instead take the one they instead left to AM. It may also suggest little interest by Prada in being the title sponsor again, being the farthest out from the city front.

The title sponsor has not been ‘quick’ to announce. If it is going to be RB then you’d think it would have been inked already.
