Sympathise with you. 1980 wasn't that flash from my POV.I would have competed in the 1992 Olympic Sailing if not for local team politics and the reports of nasty sailing conditions as in this article. Rats in the waters both in Barcelona but not near as nasty as the rats on our Olympic committee. I was pretty sick of both after having earned selection on the Tornado Cat but was not a member of the yacht club which was pulling the strings...

Garbage Time : Polluted Waters Anger Olympic Windsurfers; Yachting Officials Blame the Rain in Spain
Olympic windsurfers complained Tuesday that they had to train for the Barcelona Games with dead rats, used condoms and garbage floating in the sea.www.latimes.com
"For Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and American Magic, both teams have opted for bases further around the port on its southern flank out towards the imposing W Hotel where viewing galleries and hospitality facilities are planned to watch the racing just yards off the beachfront. The Italians will be housed to the western end of the port entrance just down from the Barcelona Nautic Center that is being used as the temporary base for Alinghi Red Bull Racing, in an area that is currently disused and something of a blank canvas for the most stylish team in the America’s Cup."![]()
Ready. Set. Build.
The final base allocations have been confirmed as Barcelona begins preparations for the 37th America’s Cup and soon, the builders will move in as each team constructs their own base with a concentration on form, function and fan engagement.www.americascup.com
No mention of K-Challenge Team France being a potential Late Entrant.
There is an unclaimed Team Base on the left (west) in the pic above. If the French find the €€€€ to enter, any theories on where they would go?
They are becoming S&S 2.0 It's time to pay up or shut up.@K-Challenge Team France still teasing AC Bid on their FB Page
Une place de libre pour qui ? Translated it means: A free place for whom?
You don't get it: They don't have to pay unless they have been officially accepted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron as Official Challenger for AC37!They are becoming S&S 2.0 It's time to pay up or shut up.
I do get it. It's time for them to pay up or shut up. They recently attended a competitors call last month among several other things going on behind the scenes. If you want to play it's time to pay.You don't get it: They don't have to pay unless they have been officially accepted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron as Official Challenger for AC37!
Thus far there is no indication that they have been accepted.
I understand that you want them to pay or stay quiet.I do get it. It's time for them to pay up or shut up. They recently attended a competitors call last month among several other things going on behind the scenes. If you want to play it's time to pay.
15.1(a) - a first installment of $1M by wire transfer to ACE is due no later than seven days following written confirmation of acceptance of the challenge.I understand that you want them to pay or stay quiet.
BUT Rules are Rules mate. Attending a Competitors Call isn't the same as being accepted as Official Challenger for AC37.
The Rules in the AC37 Protocol clearly say that you only have to pay the Entry Fees, Late Entry Fee and Performance Bonds when you have been accepted as Challenger thus K-Challenge, although they attended a Competitors Call, have no obligation to pay any fees.
What are you talking about? Have they been accepted? You say YES and I say NO, they haven't. How do you know they have been accepted?15.1(a) - a first installment of $1M by wire transfer to ACE is due no later than seven days following written confirmation of acceptance of the challenge.
They are well past 7-days of receiving written confirmation and in breach of the protocol. Stephen is no different than Canfield - all talk, no money.
FIFYwhich leads me to believe that they are not a Challenger.
I'd rather the cup had stayed in New Zealand but this is a good location - a top location actually.A pic that includes the Olympic Port to the NE
Really? Like to see your reasoning.Winning again in this new class of boat can only be good for the local industry.
Yes, could have been said better, I meant to say, while not equivalent to hosting the event, industry will still benefit to the extent of paragraph two, that is to say the media attention on New Zealand and in all likelihood the marine industry And its association with etnz.Really? Like to see your reasoning.
