There are generally 2 or three sets of waves the big swell from the prevailing wind, todays wind smaller but on top and another from wakes or reflections of the shore.
The skipper was using the reflections and main swell to travel at about 30 degrees to the main swell. He zig zagged down the coast in a masterful way however I got distracted by the huge (3 metre wingspan) albatrosses which were gliding about and over the boat. one came over me about 2 metres above me - amazing !!!

Maybe, but in most cases the waves will be slower than these boats need to be going

He has been on TE's show a few times and best I can tell he retired from his finance career in London. He made his money primarily through early investments in Apple stock.

I have no idea what grudge you are holding against MW but will just say that, in the few times I have contacted him directly with questions, he has been open and honest. He is a good addition to the AC.com writers, says he feels no restrictions, and he's enjoying it. Good for him!

Seems like he could have been an investor in the 90's or early 2000's and still done pretty well.

MW was asked during a TE show if he had any good investment advice to share, given his career in finance. He said something brief about how, when he and then his family starting using Apple products, he noticed the quality and started investing back then. Said it turned out to be his best move, ever.

Jimmy Spithill slagged GD and Team NZ off for years until Team NZ kicked his ass. Then it all changed... humble pie all round.
