For Christs Sake Dalton needs cut a Deal with Eurosport Warner.Bros Discovery and broadcast the Cup on a big large scale like Eurosport and their Warner.Bros Platform do NOW that the Cup is in Europe.

What's the Point now in hiring a local Broadcaster?

^ Since the locals have reneged on 30 million euros of AC funding there's really no need to support their pet businesses now is there!?

You're confusing topics. the production team might or might not come from a lcoal broadcaster, but that is nothing to do with what broadcast deals are done.

Nuttall

At ISE 2023 invidis had the opportunity to talk to Stephen Nuttall, Head of Television America’s Cup about the challenges of producing content for the Formula 1 on water in an interview you should not miss.

America's Cup is the world's oldest sporting trophy, dating back to 1851. The 37th edition of this sailing event will be held between August and October 2024 in Barcelona.

Stephen Nuttall explains in this interview how content production for America's cup has evolved over time and which challenges he and his team have to master to create live and long-lasting footage from yachts that "fly" over water with speeds of 50 knots (100 kmh) and more. Technology involves live cameras, drones, surround sound, wireless transmission, all the way to helicopters and chase boats. Stephen also speaks about audience development with Gen Z and content distribution to different channels from live TV to Online and Social Media.

For a second there, I read Mossad.
Ha ha.

I'm sure this will get worked out but the 'security' situation hints at other possible political problems ahead, this being Catalonia and all. And the last thing GD will want, is for any accountants to show up :D

Blah blah blah... Barcelona... blah blah blah...

The return of 3 - 1 confirmed by a Nielson sports analysis that Mr clean would be proud of was too good to turn down, surely?
Is this an Italian thing?
ROI was too localized (cagliari)To justify regional investment perhaps?
I suspect the latter.
Crazy as it seems!

Haven't looked at the numbers too closely but this Cagliari event always seemed a little shifty, including for how the dates could shift from this year until maybe next spring instead. And so now there is only 1 confirmed ACWS event so far, a short sail from Barcelona, in a small fleet of AC40's.

Meanwhile, this same week SailGP announced 12 (!) events in a fleet of probably 10 AC50s for the next coming season. Maybe SailGP weren't asking as much from venues as what GD was, or maybe the ROI was seen to be better, and/or maybe LE just doesn't actually care about how much pocket-change his support costs.
