Oh yes. Also AC32 was a waiting game (I was not there but in front of a TV set), same as the 52 Super Series a couple of years ago. Valencia never disappoints when you need time for sightseeingDo you remember R1 of AC33, even while offshore?

I am sure INEOS will negotiate to a 2025 Event Date if that is what it takes to get it done and secure a Host Venue Agreement!

They do look for the easy way out in things - maybe the "easy way" out though is to not allow the delay - let Jeddah be the venue and know that they are just competing against the Swiss in the Prada Cup Finals and then TNZ in the America's Cup. - That is their path for the easiest chance to win
If you delay to 2025 then you have more competition with the Italians, the French and the Americans.

Given their less than average light air performance last time, hoping for Jeddah - a light air venue, against what is undeniably one of the strongest sailing teams in the world today, may not be such an "easy way" for them at all.
Delaying to 2025, gives them more design time.
We all know the fastest boat ALWAYS wins.

I don't think there will be a DoG Match or any litigation by INEOS! Sir Jim isn't Larry!
Makes perfect sense for Ineos to veto any delay from '24 but again: It's clear that only Auckland and (possibly) Jeddah can do '24. And the Jeddah prospect has, umm, a multitude of problems for ETNZ even if Ineos would be very happy with essentially a 2-boat event there.

I wouldn't rule out some government money going to ETNZ even if they do hold it offshore. A global city like Barcelona is a massive opportunity to sell NZ as a world player in high tech solutions. The NZ government was very happy to front for SF but pulled support when Bermuda was chosen for AC35.

Makes sense to enforce '24. TNZ is probably the strongest team, they went for '24 thinking there was no problem selling the event. So force them to front up and deal with the hand they dealt themselves.
To play nice is not the way the game is played, be ruthless within the rules. Giving the opposition help to find funds or design answers is a bad thing.
Kiwis would accept such a decision without complaint. Or they should do, after all we did it in SF and it bit us on the arse. INEOS needs to hold them to the agreed time, fuck'em if they struggle.

Any ideas about any power Ineos has if the venue announcement gets delayed again?
IF it was an agreed-to Protocol change from Sep to Mar then can Ineos veto a venue-announcement date delay this second time? If so, well then wth happens?
