The pact will be signed in the next few days , for which there is an institutional act even with the physical presence of the trophy. Thus, Barcelona will also keep the economic impact of the competition: about 1,000 million euros.
As sources from the nautical sector have informed the Global Chronicle, " a disaster would have to occur for it not to take place", since there is a commitment between the two parties. La junta de gobierno local aprobó el convenio para la celebración de la 37 Copa América de Vela, un documento necesario para formalizar la candidatura malagueña -en la que lleva trabajando desde el año pasado- para acoger este evento deportivo.
The economic agreement contemplates a total contribution of 75 million euros that would be managed through the future consortium that the parties agree to form. Of that amount, the administrations would contribute 45 million and a contribution of 30 million is expected through donations or private sponsorships.
"I cannot comment on the degree of strength of the candidacies; I know that ours is good," said De la Torre in reference to the others. The deadline established by the organization to definitively announce Barcelona as the venue is March 31.

This vid is from 2011 but I doubt too much has changed in the area mentioned by the article that all the other articles are pointing to so far, about a verbal agreement having been reached.
There are (still-current) hotels in the foreground, the fancier W one in the background, which could get booked fast if this does happen and if you can book that far ahead. Astern of the SY is where the AC Events center might go, they proposed it recently for the site of a Hermitage Museum but lost the bid to (think it was) Madrid. The Port of Barcelona is enormous, it's big-time.

At 11,50 hrs, Race Committee officials out in the racing areas have reported
NE winds, 5 knots.
The first warning signal in Bravo area (470 men/women, Laser and Europe) is
scheduled at 13.00 hrs and at 14.00 hrs in the other racing areas.

Arround 12-13 you got always at least 10-12 knots like a clock, increasing to 15-1 7 if it really hot (specially july).

Barcelona will host the 37th edition of the Copa del América de Vela in 2024, as decided by the organizing committee of this competition. This was confirmed this Monday by the Minister of the Department of Business and Employment, Roger Torrent, in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio . Torrent hopes that the organization of the event will officially announce the choice of Barcelona as the venue in the next few hours. The minister has also said that the event will have a "million-dollar impact" on the city and will enhance the international image of Barcelona and Catalonia.
