Best Aussie Trailerable - Fun/Fast and Accomm?

We're in the market for a new (to us) boat and am sussing out options.  Sailing out of Sunshine Coast and surrounds, needs to be trailerable, fun and fast to sail (no 4ksb), easy to rig and shorthand, accommodate a family of 4 for cruising/overnighters, and able to competitively race in B2B and similar races.  Budget is ~$25k.

Current options are an Elliott 770 (very much a race boat atm so would need to stretch extra $$ to add get some comfort options for the family), or a Beale 780 which ticks most boxes but I'm wary about the fun factor, although they do rate better than a Ross 780 and a Clubman 8 so they can't be too dull.

Anything else I should consider?

I’d look into something like the Corsair 24 or maybe a F-27, if you’re open to a multihull.
These are/were top of the list...until we get to the budget part, and then I'd have to at least double it unfortunately.  One day I will be able to afford one though!

Gotcha. I found a Corsair 24 in the U.S within your budget on yachtworld, but the quick glance suggested another 10 boat bucks were needed to bring her into sailable condition.

Tough time to be boat shopping, the market is as hot as its ever been and logistics costs are up across the board. Good luck!

Elliott 7, fast light with room for 4 and lots of class racing in QLD, for your budget you would get a top boat
Certainly in the running, but can you genuinely fit 4 in the cabin to sleep?  I know the 770 has a stretched 7 hull, but do they share the same size cabin?

Rare, and often outa the $range, but the Elliott 7.4 is a great express cruiser... also support the E7, fantastic boat.

I've been chatting to a guy who has an E7.4 available for sale but I'm not completely au fait with the performance - is it a quick ride like its other Elliott siblings?
If you can find a E7.4 then go for it. They are a good all round boat and there isn't many around. The E7.4 "Denis the Menace" won the Bay to Bay overall a few times if I recall.

If you want to go fast and race then a E7 or E780 is the way to go. If you are happy to race and cruise then the E7.40 is a good boat.

The Ross 780 and the Clubman 8 is also a good options as well and there is few of them around as well.

I never sailed on a 7.4, but was on a 770 in a windy series where we got beaten every race by a 7.4. the power upwind more than made up for our downwind edge (though I seem to remember spending a lot of time on out ear!). Check out the Elliott 7.4 facebook page, they have a passionate following.

Just saw this one, probably fits the bill, no prodder though. The 7.4 would be a stiffer, more family friendly boat without losing much in the way of performance.
