Looking to create a heap of backing plates for my Olson - complete refit. I love Jamestown, but I wonder if there is a more economical source of fiberglass board (or any source of backing plate).
I sent my order in at 4:00pm, it didn't show up until 9:00am the following day.McMaster-Carr is where I buy all my G10 and fiberglass sheets, rods, extrusions, etc. You need to set up an account, and the ordering is pretty archaic (you don't know tax and shipping until the order is filled and on its way), but if you can live with some idiosyncrasies, the website is nice, low prices, and fast shipping.
I could easily be misinformed here but I think "G10" is a subset of "phenolic".I bought several sheets on eBay
I think you need to search for "phenolic" , not "G10"
For whatever reason, when I needed to buy the stuff, I couldnt get a search for "g10" to work wellI could easily be misinformed here but I think "G10" is a subset of "phenolic".I bought several sheets on eBay

G-10 is glass/epoxy. Phenolic covers different fibers and different glues.
When I hear phenolic I usually think of the paper or cotton reinforced products. There used to be a lot of phenolic boat bits (blocks and cams and so on).
That's who I bought fromThank you, everyone. The ebay tip was a good one - Norva Plastics (via ebay) sells it at less than half the price of all the other places. I will give the local SF areas a call too - great tip.
