Bidens Laptop

Good to see the grey lady owning up to mistakes.

Acknowledging having got it wrong with such a long statement is, hopefully, the first step to investigating and explaining how much Hunter was able to cash in on his dad, and how much that helped Burisma.

And then, Burisma has to be investigated to see if they were the usual corrupt SOBs, or if they were an outlier on either side of the spectrum.
It was nice to see.

For those who noticed anyway.

The issue is not the creepy Biden clan, it’s the laptop coverup and election that are troublesome.
The coverup was just media bias at work but I doubt it changed many, if any, votes.

The story came to the national press in a particularly suspicious manner, with particularly suspicious timing, by very suspicious people (Giuliani).

Anyone with functioning neurons was skeptical then, and is skeptical now that the story is relevant and important.
Yes, and anyone with functioning neurons was skeptical then and is now about news organizations and govt officials that felt the need to suppress the story.

As noted above, the NY TImes now admits the story was both real and newsworthy, yet was suppressed. Why do you think that happened?

The issue is not who won the election .

it was the deception practiced by the media and government agencies who shielded a legitimate election issue from voter scrutiny

the laptop was known to be genuine long before the election

Giuliani, Manafort and a bunch of shady Russians tried like hell to dig up dirt on Hunter long before any beat up old laptop showed up in a repair shop, they even enrolled Trump into trying to blackmail Ukraine into making crap up. Where was the deception coming from, since ages ago?

Nobody gives a crap about the laptop, TFG lost and spends his angry blame-everyone time playing The Witch. Everyone is just sick of him!

What media deception? The US media is heavily biased toward the right and there is still not compelling evidence of this laptop being anything more than a clumsy Guilliani style political hit.

Rudy claimed he had it.....I guess it would have been interesting if he revealed what it contained. But knowing Rudy had possession makes me wonder about the contents.

If anyone thinks Hunter did drug-addicted shady things that apparently made no difference to anything, then watch how Rudy gets fucked - for far worse!

That guy Rudy is rightly among those in very big legal trouble. I'm convinced he will die in prison even if he does try to flip on Trump. He was among those who were key to a truly historic and also violent American coup attempt, he among others will be going down. Hunter obsession or not.

Yep, it's pretty easy to tell an authoritarian asshole at a glance sometimes.

I found this which seems to be a pretty comprehensive account of the “Laptop from Hell”.

One detail I found illuminating: James Clapper and Michael Hayden had the same reaction as the lamestream media: smells like dogshit.

Given that Salon’s decision to publish Steele’s dossier led to their being consumed in a legal quagmire, it’s no wonder a story being pushed by Bannon (who had to be pardoned for his own Trump-wall related crimes) was largely ignored.

The Reich wing penchant for weaponizing investigations, the too-perfect timing of the NYpo story, combined with the vision impairment of the eyewitness, and the ultimate fact that nothing illegal has yet been found amidst the porn, means this story never had the legs Giuliani hoped for.

Sorry to all who had hoped a kernel of truth in HBL would vindicate them for supporting Trump and hating Biden. You’re still in the bed of your own choosing.

So do what you can, and lie like dogs in it.

The journey of imagination in the first few paragraphs is kind of gripping, kind of funny, and kind of like a bad script that's not quite believable. Imagine indeed.

...
Now imagine that you are both the son of a man running for president and a lawyer and lobbyist accustomed to mixing with powerful people and doing business overseas premised on your proximity to those powerful people, and that you are in the throes of a divorce and a midlife catastrophe brought on by the early death of your older brother and that, in your distortion field of grief, on a hell-bent drug-and-alcohol binge, you have been making even more horrible choices, taking up with your brother’s widow and, while in considerable financial debt, hiring prostitutes and zoning out with camgirls and staying awake for days at a time on crack cocaine and generally hurting everyone in your life who is trying to help you with your cruel and idiotic behavior.

And imagine that, in the middle of all of this, you lose control of 217 gigabytes of your personal data: videos in which you have sex; videos in which you smoke crack; bleary-eyed selfies; selfies that document your in-progress dental work; your bank statements; your Venmo transactions; your business emails; your toxic rants at family members; analysis from your psychiatrist; your porn searches; your Social Security number; explicit photos of the many women passing through your bedrooms, photos of your kids, of your father, of life and death, despair and boredom.

Imagine revealing this kaleidoscopic archive of all your different selves to anyone else. Now imagine it’s not just anyone but the same political opposition that has already sought to destroy your father’s candidacy by improperly pressuring a foreign leader to offer up dirt about your (sketchy, for sure) business dealings. Imagine, in a country with toxic and broken politics, how explosive this collection of data might appear to your enemies in the days leading up to a presidential election, and how valuable it might become after their defeat, as they seek to overturn and then undermine the results. For the sake of simplicity, let’s call this nebulous cloud of data a “laptop.”
...

Giulianio knew all along that there were no "legs" that anyone wanted to see. He was being coy. "I've got a laptop and I'll let you know astonishing details soon!" He's not a coy guy. If he had those astonishing details, they'd be part of that first press conference.

The whole thing makes me feel sorry for Hunter more than anything. He did some really dumb things and made an ass of himself but it's probably not easy being the son of the big guy. He got too into dangerous drugs. I still don't think that made him too dangerous to own a gun but his dad and many others disagree and I understand why. He really wasn't in his right mind.
