Is it because of the rebound post covid? The need to race/sail or are they doing something right ?

over 160 boats registered for Block Island race week with some pretty big names

It died in in the late 70's early 80's when the format shifted from government mark racing to W/L racing. Change everything about the event and the boats that participated.

With a govt marks navigators class , and a push to get the phrf 3 boats back I think haS helped.

It’s nice to finally see some well sailed J29s lead their fleet at this event. 

Jackie and the GBSA All-Stars setting up a nice picket fence. Nice work gang. Good to see Dirty Harry up front.

After there win this year, they will only have to win Block 9 more times to equal that poorly sailed J29s record of Hustler.

The sailmaker for for Dirty Harry has a shot at cracking 100 points on the boat he's sailing on.

Lots of rating protests among boats 50-60 point out of a podium finish going into the last day in ORC C   
One was upheld. 

Makes sense.

Flying Jenny has an ORC rating due to non class sails.  Fortissimo's rating might be questionable based on stock sails or something.

Peacemaker, well rumor was it was measured years ago and moved over to ORC without a new measurement. Stick a 4300lb boat that crushes everyone against 14000lb boats and things get interesting. No one likes that boat for that reason apparently.

The whole what classes boats sail in is getting ridiculous. Phrf, Performance Cruising, etc.  Mine as well have an IRC Party at Block too.

Wow, for the PHRF fleet and those paying Pro's in the PHRF fleet this was 1 expensive week for 6 races

1100 and  racing has already been canceled.  Its over.  The ferries and party win.  Many unhappy and grumbling sailors on the dock.
So  only 3 days racing.  Maybe it will be dead in 2023?  Back to Key West! 

You mean to tell me 100 points won't get cracked in some divisions?
