A white woman claimed that a black man sexually assaulted her in an elevator..... That started the whole thing. It ended with bi-planes dropping Molotov cocktails on the neighborhood, as white men stood outside and shot at anyone fleeing....
A few years ago, just before she died, that white woman admitted that she'd lied. Made the whole thing up because someone saw her step out of an elevator with a black man..... (Blacks and whites weren't supposed to ride in elevators alone together in those days)....

I always thought "taking the knee" as a BLM protest sign began when NFL player Colin Kaepernick refused to stand in 2016 for the national anthem, then gained momentum after Trump said any protesting player is a “son of a bitch” who should be fired.
It seems not.

This is a drawing from the 1780s of an enslaved black man became an emblem of the British abolitionist movement in the 1800s. The image went on to be circulated for years.
“Am I not a man and a brother,” reads a scroll along the bottom of the drawing, which shows the shackled man kneeling.

Oh, for fuck's sake. Out of all 50 states and thousands of arenas in which to hold a rally, the Trump Administration selects the location of a horrific massacre and picks the date of the celebration of the end of slavery.
Either they have absolutely no clue about history and don't really give a damn about optics, or they are being intentional with their choices and intend to offend.
