the golden jet...speedy for his day and unleashed a big 'ol slapper.
may have been less than golden to his wife
saw him pick up a big package clearly labeled "bull sperm" off an airport baggage carousel

The guy who refined the big banana shaped stick so that his booming slap shot could fly at bizarre angles giving goalies fits as shots did not come straight at them as he streaked down the rink.

Many forwards copied him.
After a while the NHL had to introduce curve limits as an arms race had begun much to the detriment of the backhand shot which has pretty much been lost.

a man who could take a check as well as give one, even through he was a lead scorer.
Can remember him with brother Dennis and Stan Mikita playing the Bruins as a kid.

and he was the key player to legitimize the introduction of the WHL. Quite the career.

Old time hockey for sure...
A true all star.

for a while it was a strategic coaching call like a timeout, they would call out a player and the refs would measure the curve...too much and the challenge led to the offending team serving two, not enough and the team that called it was short.
