Just more ad hominem shit. Why don't you make a case for performing gender affirming surgery on children if you believe in it.
I believe in making treatments available for medical & psychological conditions under the care of a licensed physician after informed consent is obtained.

Gender affirming surgery is no different. I expect continuing studies of risks and benefits of specific procedures on various groups of patients will enable doctors, patients and families to make better decisions.

I'm talking about permanent gender affirming interventions performed on children, not pierced ears.
Oh, so mutilation of a child is only unacceptable to you when it has to do with gender. Mutilation is cool when it's tradition.

I never asked you about pierced ears. I asked about circumcision, specifically.

Do you even remember how you started this thread?

Do social factors contribute to the onset of gender dysphoria in adolescents? One study suggests they may. The study found that parents of adolescents who identify as transgender were overwhelmingly white (91.4%) and college educated (70.9%) and liberal, favoring gay marriage (85.9). It also appears that associating with other people who identify as transgender may be a factor.

“Parents describe that the onset of gender dysphoria seemed to occur in the context of belonging to a peer group where one, multiple, or even all of the friends have become gender dysphoric and transgender-identified during the same timeframe”.

From the conclusions:

“Emerging hypotheses include the possibility of a potential new subcategory of gender dysphoria (referred to as rapid-onset gender dysphoria) that has not yet been clinically validated and the possibility of social influences and maladaptive coping mechanisms contributing to the development of gender dysphoria”.

So, if these findings hold up, we are be making surgical and chemical changes to the bodies of children to treat a condition brought on, or contributed to, by social influences.

Why are you so scared of conversation and debate? You Dodge questions. You evade. You are a fearful little child.
Ok, let's get specific, I'm ok with non-life altering procedures with parental consent but opposed to gender affirming procedures like mastectomies on thirteen-year-old girls because they identify as a boy. Are you ok with thirteen-year-old girls getting mastectomies?

So girl goes through procedure, decides she's made a mistake, then wants to take away that decision from others because she knows better.

Great.

I'm not saying parents are perfect. I'm not saying medical professionals are perfect. But when they are in agreement on the correct choice of action for an individual, it is not any of @Dog 2.0 's business what they do.

Note: You don't need EVERY doctor on the planet to agree. But if the doctors they are consulting agree, then get out of their business.

First, I don't give any thought to an article in the NYP. Second, this is an issue between parents, the kids and their doctors. Just like abortion, it's none of your fucking business. And the legislation you support keeps Healthcare decisions in the hands of the government, not the teens, not the parents...but the fucking government. It also keeps very beneficial therapies, like puberty blockers, from being used so that kids, parents and doctors actually get the time they need to figure shit out. It also keeps said puberty blockers from kids, parents and doctors from assisting a 9 year old girl from having her period in 4th grade.
