There must be a certain percentage of Floridians that aren't the stereotypical fascist loony/demented retiree/ ignorant hillbilly types.

Why the fuck are they still there? Plenty less crazy places with warm weather.

I like it here. The snowbirds will be gone soon. It’ll be Florida for a while. It’s nice out in the real state.

This is the only property with a salt water boat ramp and a spring fed pond that I could ever possibly afford, so I'm staying. Soon our town will be empty again as well.

Next snowbird season is a whole new ball game for us. Our big new resort on the harbor is supposed to open. That thing needs to attract year round conventions and stuff or it will die. So this might be the last time that they really go away.

I too enjoy the boat ramp at the end of my street, walking the dog to it twice a day, without a leash during the week and during non Gator times. I like having an artesian well on the property. I don’t have to worry about development completely, but St. Augustine growth is rapidly moving our way and driving values up. I don’t have enough time left for that to bother me.
Yeah, I get tired of chucklefucks but they don’t bother me a hell of a lot other than the redneck RPM mating call but that’s just on Friday nights. Where else could I hang a white flag on the rifle of a confederate soldier statue that stands guard in front of a courthouse, and then wait around for an hour to answer questions and see only one person?

Running out of time was the subject of yesterday's board meeting at the local Sailing Center. We have three youth sailing programs on the harbor. One doesn't have a place any more due to Ian, one is closing shop due to lack of interest, and then there's us. We're old. We don't have replacements for ourselves. We have boats, money, and a lease with the county, so we'll be around for a while, but we're surely doomed without replacements for ourselves.

Yesterday one of our mobility sailors took his first solo in the Martin. Yeah, the wheelchair is always waiting back on the dock, but out there it always strikes me that we all have the same freedom of movement.

Gasoline prices went up 37 cents over night yesterday. Why?
"Can't get deliveries because it's all going to south Florida"
But..... Why should the station not being able to get deliveries raise the price of the fuel that they already have, and paid much less for 4 days ago?
And why does the "fact" that some places couldn't get fuel 4 days ago impact the fuel price 300 miles away 4 days later?

Because they can.

Oh, and it's President Biden's fault.

duh Santis is doing his best to fuck the state of Florida sideways, it would be best if he got caught with a dead girl a live boy or Mickey having a quicky sooner rather than later.
Rick Scott turned Florida into a slave state by freezing unemployment benefits.
Meatball is trying to take it back to the days of the Salem witch trials.

Either the majority of Florida voters like this or the Republicans have things so rigged it's next to impossible for a Democrat to win.

As long as the democrats keep nominating half dead republican fossil retreads, the kids won’t turn out. Get the kids to turn out like they do in other states, or wait for more old shitbags to croak.

That's a problem throughout the party.

The two parties have worked hard to create this duopoly but now that one party has gone off the cliff, the Democrats are the only hope America has to keep fascism form taking over. But they don't seem to be trying very hard.

They’re trying to be nice about it, while the other side is beating cops and trying to overthrow the government. The Feinstein episode is the perfect example. “Thanks for your service but if you can’t do the job now, when it is needed, there’s the door.” Schumer needs to go back and read some McConnell stories.

The American business model is "Anytime you get a chance to increase your profits, do it."

One study I saw attributed over half the rise in inflation to greedy corporations. Where are our elected officials when the people need really them?

They can be found raising money from the people who benefit from the rise in inflation.

DeSatan is really starting to energize the college age crowd. His attacks on education, LGBTQ, and abortion rights is getting them riled up. Considerably more than I have ever seen. If that carries thru to election time, Ronnie won't like the results. Probably why he's looking to make it harder for college students to vote.
