brexshit... you gotta love it !
a hatch on my yacht is leaking, rubber seal is gone, according to manufacturer (Lewmar) it's a non-standard size (although I can show them there's dozens of same hatches overhere, was standard on Etap yachts) so they can not supply.
a bit of a search and some help of my british friends got me to a company close to Ipswich specialised in refurbishing hatches like mine, so all good, they are eager and helpful but then they gave me a link to a webpage where they have their "20 points program to get anything in and out of the UK for repair " .... it's bloody horrendous, a real showstopper, maybe for companies it's feasible but for a one off repair for an individual it's completely ridiculous so looking for other options, anybody a good idea ?

also funni, in a couple weeks time will go for a little sailing bout on little britain's east coast (Burnham, Maldon, Tollesbury and the likes) and I was informed that apart from a valid passport I must be able to show that I have an adress to stay, and no, a sailing yacht is not a valid adress, so a sailor's thanks and fuck you to Brexshit

Informed by who? Process is here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sailing-a-leisure-craft-to-and-from-the-uk and there's nothing about having to supply an address. Tons of EU citizens tour the UK by motorhome, caravan etc, they don't have a fixed address.

the man I'm sailing with, a compatriot of yours, after previous questions of your very own HMS Customs & Excise to another visitor.

reminds me of the days (80's) when I was in merchant shipping handling customs etc... amd worst of all were the Teeside guys. so no reason to be snottynosed about it, the old days are back and your snotnosed bullies are back on the game, have at it, you voted for that.

You do realise that’s it’s not immigration asking for a contactable forward address, it’s more likely the department of health for your benefit if you have been exposed to a poison or cantageous disease whilst travelling. Take it, it’s a benefit to you and similar to virtually every other country outside the EU.

As you already exhibit a poisonous hatred of Brexit and showing signs of mental stress with your record of still mouthing anti Brexit sympathies at even the slightest of customs problems ( we are after all outside the EU ) then my guess is the Immigration Office wanting a fixed address is doing your friends a favour. Perhaps one of your friends who is giving you the advice is simply saying in a polite way, Ferk Off we can’t be bothered with you whinging and moaning at every thing that life throws your way whilst you are here.

PS you could simply give your friends address, that works well. State that the hatch part is worth less than £135.00 and post it to the U.K. Two days later your repairer will have your hatch. They can do your refurbishment, charge you an invoice including VAT which in my view is fair, the work is being done in the U.K. and then post it back stating it’s second hand and worth less than £ 135.00 which in all truth is probably the case. No customs forms needed.
