Brexit WTF, WTF

Ah but you guys are not taking into account that as far as the UK is concerned, who is considered a world leader in all things green, that by 2030 we will have no ICE engines, all houses will have converted to Air Source heat pumps, Toyota will have reinvented the E Fuels to be fully sustainable with our leading wind turbines powering the conversion of said fuel even through no wind periods and that RR modular nucleur reactors will be placed just outside every town for the no wind periods.

According to Hindsight Keir along with most MP's the UK is going to contribute 0.1% less of the worlds carbon by 2035.

PS they have actually forgotten to take into account that we are growing by 600K per year.
Unfortunately, even if the UK contributes nothing to the world's carbon growth the US, China and India with make up for your trepidation.

Times article today.
The introduction of the post-Brexit health and safety quality mark has been described by the chief executive of the Fire Industry Association as a farce that “makes absolutely zero sense”.
Ian Moore, who leads the trade body for fire safety in the UK, said replacing the European Union’s CE mark with the UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark “makes zero difference to increasing the quality of the products”. He added: “It doesn’t add any value whatsoever; it’s just bureaucracy and will cost the fire industry millions of pounds.”

FT article today;
A key quote from Foster's article (quoting CEO of British Coatings Federation: “If genuine progress is not realised quickly, there is the risk of irreparable damage not just to the UK chemicals sector but to downstream users and formulators of chemicals”

Weird report not mentioning the UK’s increasing rest of the world trading figures nor what should be Greys biggest worry, seems Ireland loves trading with us.
• The UK’s largest EU trade surplus was with Ireland (£26 billion) while its largest deficit was with Germany (£26 billion).

One for LeoV here, how much does he think the so called “Rotterdam Effect “ effects the EU export to U.K. figures, one thing for sure just on a population basis, the Netherlands exports a lot of gear to us ?

Maybe you should have studied the POR effect and the influence of it on trade numbers before you voted Brexit and used wrong import export numbers to make your case.

Brexit is going just fine Leo. The biggest criticism you could make is that most people haven't noticed we've left, ie changes haven't been radical enough.

We just got a major electric vehicle battery factory investment btw beating out Spain.

Imagine being more Brexity than Farage to still think it’s going well…

Peak Brexit;

Newspaper calling to kill remainers. To fight cancel culture with a knife.

for something to the tune of 500 million pounds of your taxes + an undisclosed sum in the hundreds of millions to pour into Tata's ailing steel works in the UK

Yup great catch
Oh for ferk sake Laser1, do you honestly believe all the car manufacturers are paying themselves for their battery factories ?

The real big elephant in the room with these factories is that they could be made totally redundant in a few months if anyone of the myriad of alternative battery types such as solid state or which is more likely in the short term, E fuels suddenly gets a foothold. All that taxpayer money will be then doubled to pay all the redundancy and factory closure costs.

Now that’s an interesting development in some ways, the buyers are probably the first company to actually chase the really big market, house banks.

Now in my view we should be forgetting subsidising building another Nuke plant and simply pay to install a house bank and PV panels in every property where all that daytime off peak energy can be stored. Octopus Energy are a long way down this route already buying home stored leccie at peak times and refilling in off peak. No longer would all that excess wind power we have be wasted after all the U.K. has nearly 50% of potential wind that could be harvested in Europe.

Have you also considered for a millisecond that if the UK hadn't left the EU that 5.2 billion euro ($5.7 billion) investment could have come to Blighty?
Didn’t take more than a millisecond to realise that a Dutch French German Spain government owned and subsidised industry is not going to invest in U.K. car plants whether we were in the EU or not, on a purely business basis.

If you think through sheer philanthropy the good Bergers of Germany and France are going to pay to build giga battery factories in the U.K. to compete with their own subsidised manufacturers, then you are living in a world that’s totally different to mine.

Whats even funnier is that the German car manufacturers haven‘t worked out that Bidens buy US is going to decimate their business model and that the paymasters of the EU are going to see a serious over production of very expensive electric cars coming onto the market with large price cuts, effectively sponsored by the good Bergers of Germany. Today BMW are advertising on the radio freebies on new leccie car purchases, that’s just a small tick in the box of BMW’s are over priced and not selling in the numbers expected already.

As the French manufacturers have always been sponsored by their French citizens and continue to make really crap cars, nothing much has changed there.

"Inside Europe's Parliament of Bullies" (this from the ultra pro EU Politico. Widespread bully and sexual harassment, slow and ineffective "investigations". Add this to the rampant corruption.

I'm so happy we are out and will never rejoin
