Odd fact about Boris...
He's probably in real terms the poorest net worth Prime Minister we've ever had.. at about £1.75 million
The opposition Starmer (with his wife,) is worth about £15 million and Corbyn about £3 million.
Theresa May £4 million
D Cameron £40 million
G Brown £12 million
T Blair £52 Million
J Major £40 Million
M Thatcher £8 Million
J Callaghan £2 million
Harold Wilson.. £1.5 million but in todays terms £11 million
No corruption there - Maggie was the daughter of a shop keeper and the PM currently gets paid about 150K - easy to get a net worth of 8 Mil.

Heath was a carpenters son but somehow could afford a new, custom 40' race boat every couple of years. On a similar pay level.

Must have been very good with the housekeeping money.

In Boris Johnson's last speech he compares himself to Cincinnatus,

and gets slaughtered by classicists.

He's even played the Cincinnatus card before.

Johnson is in fact well educated and taught Latin before going into politics.
I found his debate with Mary Beard to be a lot of fun and his reading of the opening
passage of the Iliad to be pretty damned good. But he doesn't seem to have done anything as PM.

She's a shallow, mediocre numpty, saddled with insuperable problems left her by her three predecessors, and will go down in flames in six months.

So when Boris rides in on his chariot to rescue the middle classes at the next election, fronting a new party, there’s going to be an awful lot of you going WTF.

P_Wop have you spent anytime with the woman to actually make that statement, have you ever actually lived and paid taxes in the U.K. to enable an actual vote ? You know you are coming across as yet another fat American armchair critic who has spent too much time on his computer.

The shallow mediocrity of your statement, having never met you, I would suggest sums you up nicely.

In Canada, if a PM changed like this (although to be fair we have never had a situation close to this) it would be incumbent on the new PM to call an election to get her own mandate. How likely is this is in the UK now?

Not suggesting it is a requirement, just normative behaviour in most parliamentary democracies after a leadership change. It is convenient to a crisis (multiple crises?) to fall back on to avoid seeking a mandate. Why "She'll"? Is she already important enough to have a capitalized pronoun?

I love you too.

I'm actually British, presently in California. Yes, I have lived and paid taxes and voted in the UK for many years. No, I have not met Ms. Truss face-to-face. I very much doubt that you have either. I have seen and heard her via TV and internet for several months, and have read much about her in the UK press. Hence I have an opinion.

I did get to know Margaret Thatcher quite well personally in the 70s, and I have an opinion about her too.

I respect your right to hold your own opinions, but it appears that I don't share them.

Good day to you.
