It is an Owen Clarke Design. They designed the Class 40, Dragon that is also entered in the race. The boat carries it's beam all the way aft which will make it interesting for sailing up wind and a blast off the wind.

As for the keel... I think the J80 has the advantage there!

The inaugural race was sailed over a 167 mile course from Greenport to the Cleveland Ledge Light and back, and was won by William Ziegler, Jr.'s Bounding Home.
Wow, that's a blast from the past. I worked on Bounding Home when I was a teenager in the 70's & she was owned by Tom Schiller of Schooner Cove in Stamford. Wonder where she is today? (Sadly, maybe the scrap heap?)

Just looked and there are 27 entries now! Bring em on!
The doblehanded division is growing. 90 miles will be a long afternoon and night for 2 people.

Pfft. A nice snack of a race.

Seriously, if you are interested in testing out the over night, short handed experience (or the overnight crewed experience) this is a great race to do it in. Long enough that you need to get into some sort of groove and short enough that you can get home in time for breakfast on Saturday.

And 90 miles is probably nothing on a Class 40

Gonna be breezy and cold Friday night. Could be a rough one for the Olson 30 in the doublehanded division.

Mark survived the return leg of the Bermuda 1-2 this year and Antoine helped deliver Sodebo home with Thomas double handed..... a trip around Block is gonna be a walk in the park even if it is on an Olson.

Race starts today at 3. Looks like 10-15 out of the south going southeast and increasing to 20-25 late in the evening. Should be a fast ride back from Block.
