toster,I’d like to start 505 sailing but I don’t particularly want to sell my left kidney to get one around me they are starting to drop in price (a good one near by is around £4000) but they are still to expensive any thoughts? Thanks
toster,
Buy the youngest boat you can afford and If the $$$$ will let you buy a Carbon / Epoxy boat then they are the best.
The polyester boats do go soft over the years.
Also get one that is set up for the big spinnaker. My boat 8501 still has the small spinnaker shoot and it's a bugger to get the kite up and down quickly.

Thanks I believe I may have found a boat I might be able to get enough money for it’s a little bit above my budget but could be doable any thoughts? Thanks https://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.co.uk/boat/rondar-505-for-sale/698073toster,

Haha good pointBoats are always above budget. And not just the day you buy.
One of my favorite quotes, from Roy Disney at the awards ceremony at some SoCal sled regatta (Cal Cup? Summer Sleds?). He "congratulated" his team, saying "I gave you an unlimited budget and you STILL managed to go over..."
That boat looks great. You can spend your time figuring out how to sail a 505 rather than figuring out how to fix a 505.Thanks I believe I may have found a boat I might be able to get enough money for it’s a little bit above my budget but could be doable any thoughts? Agree with Schnappi. The boat I got took me more than a year to fit out. The one you're looking at looks pretty much ready to go.
