Looking for any comments to compare the C&C 110 with a Hanse 411

Both boats are the same age, intended use is for the usual blend of racing/cruising

C&C 110 can have a sprit attached.

Hanse has a symmetric spinnaker plus A-sail for cruising

Comments?

The 411 is TWICE the displacement of the C&C - they are not really very comparable.

If you want to do any racing at all go with the C&C

The Hanse is a crusing boat and a cruising boat only.

What kind of racing are you planning on? What kind of cruising are you planning? What percentage of time will you spend racing vs cruising? Who is your compitetion and what type of boat do they have? Which boat does your wife like? Either boat might meet your needs, just depends on your needs.

The C&C 110 has a design weight of 10,900 lbs, I weighed a 110 for IRC, boat stripped of everything except cushions, no fuel or water, actual weight 13,167 lbs.

Years ago, I asked Tim Jackett why the weights listed for the 110 and 121 didn't go down when they switched to epoxy, yet they claimed that the 99 had significant weight savings due to its epoxy construction. Tim said that the 110 and 121 originally came out heavier than designed, but the epoxy ones were at the correct weight.

I think the 110 comes in like three keel options and two rudder shapes. Some 110's come with a sprit and others without. So which 110 are you thinking of? Do you intend to race or just cruise?

I've got a 110 and have raced it for 6 seasons. It PHRF's 81 I think that the Hanse is a bit slower ~93ish, need to check. It sails to its rating. All 110's from 2005 and on are epoxy with carbon sticks. As well those models have a 6.5" keel or a shoal draft option, as well as a sprit or sym chute. The J dim is 14', the sprit length is 19, and the sym pole 16, yes it is oversize as standard. They rate the same where I sail. I you like the circus of the pole I would think that it is faster than a sprit if they rate the same in your area. The resale value of the epoxy boats are great if that is important to you. Older boats than that stated had shoal (~4.67'), 6.25' and 7.25 drafts, double or triple spreader aluminum rigs and were polyester. They all have the same rudder with possibly the exception of the shoal draft. Mine is epoxy and weighed in at 13,720 stripped, no fluids, sails, lines, fenders, etc. I've been very happy with the boat, feel free to PM if you like.
