Cabin Cushions - New England Recommendation

When I Google "Herreshoff interior cabin", I see many good examples-

Wine red, aquamarine, taupe. Take a look.
Wine red = french bordello red / redrum colors; aquamarine, greenish-blue is kind of seafoam; taupe is the dirt-color series.

I guess the question I'm asking is: if you come off watch, do you want something that's the opposite of what you've been looking at - so red, taupe, kind of land based colors or just stick with the usual marine colors blue/aquamarine?

Ive been told that exposure to the color red increases the probability of seasickness, but I can't vouch for the idea personally. I've always gone basic blue on interior and will again on new v-berth covers I need to make this winter

Well, my boat came with very neutral gray cushions. I have a teak cave interior. I don't like the gray because it's very drab and dreary. I think I'd like some kelly green or something.

A few contrasting throw cushions can radically change the ambience.

But I know that some people have a religious aversion to throw cushions :)

I think the classic cushion color for a Concordia Yawl was  mossy green.

I vaguely  recall some advice back in the day about stitching, something like ordinary upholstery stitching leaves holes through which water can sog up the stuffing but real marine  stitching is waterproof. I don't recall the details, I suppose it's not as important in the age of closed cell foam.

That's my stereotype of a gentleman's club leather armchair.  That or a deep, tired red.

The mossy green fits with my image of a Concordia woodcave as floating gentleman's club.

Hey now, my Tartan is a teak cave but it's no gentlemen's club.

I've had a fairly diverse parade of guests aboard. In fact, I'm hosting what I laughingly call our "Team Builder" luncheon on the boat tomorrow afternoon. Once or twice per year, I invite my departmental co-workers out for a sailing lunch and it's not a bunch of white men.

There's very little "team building" though. We drink and eat and I sail the boat while begging people not to jam up the bog.

Honest, I wasn't implying it was!  I was thinking of that colour on a Concordia

Glad to hear it, but I am not surprised -- I didn't think the corporate crap was your style :)

When I become galactic empress,  "team building" will be a hanging offence ... for the lesser incidents.   The punishment for aggravated incidents will be hanging, drawing and quartering.
