I've been saying for decades that we should bring back the WPA and the CCC. But no one seems interested in putting capable people on the govt. payroll to do the things that we pay too much to private contractors to not do.
We have how many people on the dole who live in tents in cities? We have how many immigrants looking for work? We have how much infrastructure work that requires very little advanced education, and can be done by anyone with half a brain and a half decent back? Yeah, LOTS!
This country's highways were not built by M.I.T. graduates. The bridges, and sidewalks, and street lamps were not built by engineers and mathematicians. They were built by Spics, WOPS, Micks, and Jerrys, they were built by people who came here looking for something better than they had. The railroads were built by Chinks and Japs, the vineyards were planted and harvested by Beaners. Now the problem is we have no one who will do the work? BS! We have millions who will, if we let them in, like our grand parents were let in.
You must be loving Kevin McCarthy's work for welfare proposal.

Is China a good teammate, or not? I can't keep it straight.

I know that China is bad when we are talking about President Biden and his family, wrt business deals.

I also know China is good when talking about TFG and his family, wrt business deals.
They are whatever the speaker wants at the time.

Actually, it's a push towards normalizing gov't subsidy of corporations. As it stands, a lot (probably more than half) of welfare gets paid out to families with multiple workers, each holding multiple minimum-wage jobs.

But depending on how it's structured, could be a good thing in a world of increasing robot-ization.

Who is responsible for the Federal land underneath all those forests?

Can California just barge in and do as they please?
Yes Calif can because it poses a threat to the citizens of California. But Newsom is more interested in a potential WH run and could care less about Calif.

Lets see what happens when it starts burning with dems in the WH, I'm sure Newsom will find a way to blame the GOP in the House.

Now Allstate has “paused” selling property insurance in California. It's not because there are risks to California properties. That there are risks in a community only increases the market for insurance.

“State Farm is taking this step largely because the California Department of Insurance's system of price controls does not allow it and other insurance companies to charge premiums commensurate with the potential losses they face”.
