Except for when the giving big government regulates and screws up the business environment.
Recent impositions on decent capitalists by big governments in Republicunt  run states include:

*Use of Texas government to stop fentenal dealers from delivering product to consumers

* endless regulations to stop doctors from providing services from parasite removal   to some forms of child care for aspiring transvestites.

*  harassment of Mexican Coyotes whose transportation business is constantly  being made difficult by Republican government agents

* try googling the Back Page website. Befote the antI-free capitalist government stepped in, that free market form of the capitalist companionship business was going strong

Etc

Today's paper said he bought 8%

Is that what you regard as a majority?

In related news, 9.2% is like way bigger than half.

Honestly, I think it's this insistence on basic arthmetic, citing, usage and grammar that gives PA such a bad name.

He bought a 9.2% stake. The founder of Twitter owns 2%, and the company itself owns 27%. As a single shareholder, he owns the majority stake.

He spent nearly $4 billion of his pocket change to become the majority owner because he claimed that Twitter has been "restricting free speech" (they have), and "undermining Democracy" (jury is out on that one), also "silencing voices of dissent" (they definitely did that). Musk wants to fix Twitter.

Does this mean Trump will get back on Twitter?

That poses an interesting conundrum for the former guy. To go back on to twitter, would be to admit that Truth Social was a failure. He'd be basically deplatforming himself from his own network.

Maybe. He shouldn't have been banned in the first place. Twitter monetizes homophobes, neo-Nazis, misogynists, anti-semites and racists. It's pretty dumb that they jabbed some bony finger in the sand with the orange-haired dipshit ... "all you Neo-Nazis, misogynists, anti-semites and racists, keep making money for us, but Trump, that guy has to go!"

Aside from the typical political bullshit, seems like a good place to put this ... so fucking cool, when it flies into the plate stamper and the zinc-dip.

I can't say Twitter's been "restricting free speech" - they are not the gov't.

But yes, new ownership could mean different voices on the platform.

It doesn't have to make sense to you, as a private company they can do as they please.

As much as the Righties complain, I don't hear them clamoring for Fox News to present balanced coverage.  Oh, wait, Fox News can present whatever they want, and slant it all they want and still call it news.  And so can MSNBC, etc.

And that poses and interesting conundrum for current users. In an informal poll I saw on Twitter this morning, a majority said they would either leave the platform or block Trump. If Elon wants to hitch his star to Trump..."everything Trump touches dies".

Yeah, they can do what they want. And now they can't, because Musk now controls a huge chunk of their votes and as we discuss, he's drawing in his fans to control more of those votes from all over the planet. It's not just a "righty" thing though, voices from across the political spectrum have complaints about the ability to control it.

Ultimately, Fox News, New York Times, The Atlantic, The Drudge Report, etc., these are all classical media, they have a point of view and they exercise it. But Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, are not classical media, but social media. Like the bulletin board at the library or the town square, they have certain obligations that regular media doesn't have.

So people see the stock price rise because Elon Musk bought shares and so it must be a good bet?

I can't wait to see the look on their faces when he sells and gets richer. And they don't.

Stooges.
