I was thinking if I put a couple swim weenies in the car top and opened the sun roof I could reach up and hold the boat in place by grabbing the mainsheet block.

Then I remembered I need one hand to shift the gears..

has anybody here built carbon fiber racks shaped to match a Honda Si and a Capri 14.2

Dud you vacuum bag or use pre preg  with an autoclave??

Thats what I did to hold my 14.2 to the roof of my Smart car. However I formed the roof racks using paper mache mixed with bat guano. Takes a little longer to dry but the insects don't attack it. The only other thing I did different was to add a S hook to the mainsheet and attach it to my shift lever so the sheet would be tight and hold the boat it place whilst in Drive. Whenst shifting into Park the sheet is loose and cuts launch time by about 4 sec.. Hope this helps.

When you were collecting , did you notice any signs of the bat killing fungus. Were you extremely careful to avoid all contact with thst fungus?

I sure hope your roof rack is not the “typhoid Mary” of bat fungus.

No need for a roof rack system for the Honda Si. Just put the Honda directly in the 14.2. The 14.2 is such a well designed mini yacht with its robust simplicity, the Honda will be engulfed in warmth and solitude. I speak from the supreme knowledge of my former life ownership of four 14.2 s. Welcome to Mecca and to the boat that has replaced the outdated Finn in the future Olympics.

Too late. I bought a used 14x 7 Wells Cargo Trailer and I am carrying the 14.2 inside. So far I haven’t found a hill I couldn’t get up in 2nd gear.

Yes.. I peeled  off the stickers . It is all repainted, new tires and rims, New lights, welded a few cracks, major inside cleaning and disinfecting, re-mounted roof racks for extra AEROs and Lasers.

You guys are over thinking this.  I just sawzalled the front into a reverse bow, which in addition to making the boat faster, allows me to flip the boat upside in the driveway, put the transom against the ole doublewide and drive the car into the bow.  The reverse bow rides up and over the bumper, hood, windshield and right onto the roof racks.

I am really bummed.  After I installed the Volvo Penta  engine with the folding prop, the Capri is now overrated for my roof racks.  How am I going to go to the Olympics if I can't get the boat to the trials??

You went with folding?? Why not feathering??

I have an extra Volvo Penta from a J-34 if you want to trick out a tuning partner

If u get the model B aluminum cyl.head for the penta and the titanium injector pump housing  your overall weight will lowered substantially.  Adding the tubular carbon prop shaft will help too. You will then be Olympic ready.
