It seems the entry list gets better each year for this race, nice to see Liara back out again.

Rigging failure I guess but apparently the mast broke at the first spreaders?? Probably pushing a cruising boat had as well. The boat is surprisingly quick, it took part in the round the island race a few years ago and even overtook leopard at the 3/4 distance mark. I hope Nomad made it to the Caribbean after it's failed transat race attempt

If anyone gets the chance check in with the pirates on Ambersail.

Met them at the end of a Hobart a couple of years back. Amazing crew, amazing program, true ocean racing anarchy. They deserve far more coverage than they ever get.

Get down below and share a whiskey with them if you get the chance.

If only all the old VO60's were being used this way the world would be a better place.

Was most likely a rigging failure, but it was never confirmed (the rig was deep sixed) - though it wasn't being pushed at the time the rig failed, only a staysail and full main, underwicked for the conditions for sure. There was more sail up the day before whilst training...

As it was only 1 mile into the race then seeing the other 599 appeals!

Nomad is here with a mashed up boom, maybe they'll have it sorted in time but they seemed quite French about it. We're going to be the slow ones there on little old Vagabundo hopefully giving black watch a run for their money! Another S&S battle

Otra Vez arrived today in Antigua after a relatively trouble free sail from Fort Lauderdale. She will be based at the Antigua Yacht Club Marina for the event. The container should arrive tomorrow and with some luck we will have it out of customs on Wednesday. OV is in offshore race mode with wire lifelines, offshore spray hood, and the rum&coke maker removed....

Super bummed out after having just turned down a doublehanded ride. Funny conversation though.

Clean: "Hey babe - is it OK if I fuck off to Antigua to go racing next week?"

Mer: "Next week we have a doctor's appointment, and you get to see your daughter on an ultrasound for the first time in months. And aren't you leaving for St. Martin in two weeks?"

Clean: "Yeah, that's true. But how important is the doctor's appointment, really?"

Mer: "That depends. How important is your marriage, really?"

Don't worry. You still have a few years left before you are forced to choose between a racer with a bucket and a cruiser with a head (I held out for 35 years, and still happily married).

Those ultrasounds are bullshit. You can't make out a fucking thing. Then they tell you you are going to have a girl, or a little boy with no dick. If you see a dick, they tell you it might not be a dick. Kid might have her thumb up her ass.

Fukin dicks! They just print out the same b+w fuzzy blob and hand it out to everyone.
