1,
Yeah, the Lake rocked it today, with a thunderstorm for an exclamation point at sundown.

The surfers and kiteboarders were loving it. I saw some kiteboarder...I don't know how far they flew but it was really far.

Amazing stuff. I'll just stay lower middle class and have those things show up in my windows.

There was a Pileated Woodpecker hanging out with us today too.

Very cool.

The corned beef was a great idea! Hannah loved it. She's one of my dogs but I figured we're doing a work vacation and she just went through surgery, so what the hell.

She's snoring. I'm not sure she's left room for me on the bed.

Hey, I'm headed to Tokyo on business next week. Any recommendations?
Midori Sushi if you happen to be near the Ginza. Reasonable prices for good sushi and open on Sunday.

For street food, get yourself some takoyaki (octopus in fried batter) anywhere there's a stand. You'll recognize them by the array of hemispherical fryers in which they turn the cooking balls of batter.

When in doubt, find a noodle shop. The charms of a good bowl of noodles are best explained via the 1980's-era movie "Tampopo". Rent it before you go.

If you're unaccompanied and don't know where to find good food, get yourself to a major train station or the basement of department store. There will be plenty of good restaurants there.
Thanks for the tips, I had all that and more. Breakfast at the fish market was a definite highlight and I'm hoping a real tepanyaki experience has broken my boss of wanting to eat at Benihanna for good....

Bump.

Just checking. Has nothing happened over the last few months that is worthy of being reported in this illustrious forum or has ND finally decided to cut us off completely from all news about his lovely boat?

The boat is nearing completion according to Thumper the foreman. I'll be talking to him this weekend as the Seahawks play the Panthers. Much betting will be going on. We pay off in hush puppies. This is the longest build that I have ever experienced.

Bob,

Can you say what's behind the delay? Is the owner paying in installments as funds are raised or is it being done as yard labor frees up from their stock boat production or something else?

No, but that is funny. This client most certainly does not need to pay in "installments". It's a complex story. The client is busy and in no hurry to have the boat before the weather is nice.

It had an 1.25" shaft with a tapered joint . . . and bob has decided to re-engineer it .

:)

more seriously . . . . this is the way to do it right . . . . . almost every custom build could really use an extra year in the shed beyond 'the build schedule' to get shit right. Really the yard should sneak it in the water and sail it to the Azores and back, and THEN put it back in the shed for another year. The only problem is that the electronics get obsoleted every year :( Hopefully they did not buy that stuff upfront.

What does this mean? I think maybe we have some thread cross polinating. I don't recall deciding to re-engineer anything.

chill out Bob, I even put a smiley face there, just so you would know for sure i was teasing.

I think you earlier posted pics or drawings of the rudder and it was massive. . . . probably way to heavy :) (see that smiley again).
