Donn & Kerry's Pudgy survey has the same angle of heel as a lot of the growed-up skiffs doing big races these days.

VO70 >VO65> PP8.

Same heel, different day.

Just me or something does not make sense. A hard dodger for protection but a seperate UNPROTECTED cockpit for sail handling. Or is this just a seperation between owner and paid crew.

Beach:

You are not getting it. Primary sail handling is from the aft cockpit. Ancillary sail handling i.e, chutes staysail hal are in the cc. There is simply not enough room in the aft cockpit to bring everything aft. Trust me that a lot of thought has fone into this deck layout including extensive mock up work. We are not guessing at anything.

Who is this "paid crew"?

Those dangling gold strings may get caught in something. Can't have that.

cruising boats usually don't have very active spinnaker trim anyway...

usually, the sheet gets set in about the right place, and cleated off.

then the driver just heads up or down a bit, as needed to keep the chute flying nicely.

Personally I like my dear late dad's cruising approach: When the breeze drops below 10 knots, instead of a spinnaker we'd use the `benzine topsail'.

He also liked to get the beer cold.

Boat is coming along nicely and slightly behind schedule but I expected that. I have been busy with my own new cruiser.
