Changing the batten slots along the luff

My main has round carbon fiber battens that were sanded down to fit into a rectangular shaped slot at the luff:

The tapered end compromises the strength of the originally round batten and it causes it to break. Are there rounded versions of this I can purchase?

Sorry think this is right one

Else Google bainbridge international usa catalogs...sailmaking and hardware

You can get flat caps for the round batten ends. They need to be glued onto the end of the round batten so they stay in place when you pull out the batten... (Round carbon battens are almost always pultruded so you may be able to match their stiffness with other sections -assuming the button pocket is is not too narrow and you want to do some research).

To my eye that's a pretty small batten pocket, about 2.5" tape I'd guess, so I'm guessing the batten is similarly small? The usual round luff fittings will be starting at something like 8 to 10mm diameter batten and likely to be too large for a batten that will fit that size batten pocket.

You might be able to provide a bit more detail, but those batten caps are the same size the 18'ers (and most other skiffs) use and in the past they used hollow carbon tubes with polyester solid inserts in the tip where it goes into the cap.

@Jethrow that's a good eye, as I understand it the North loft that built the sail used windsurfing batten material. The tensioners are the Rocket 1.0 tensioners and these were phased out for sails a long time ago but are still used for windsurfers. What is really dumb is that the rod batten is tapered down to fit the tensioner then is shaved into a rectangular shape at the luff end to fit the batten receptacle. So on both ends the strength of the rod is compromised. I should probably just bring to a local sail shop and have them batten pockets redone to take standard battens
