Charleston Race Week 2023?

Figured I'd start a thread to see who's going and what not. I'm local if anyone has any Q's about the area, venues, etc or if there's anything I can do to help out when you're here!

Was reading in the sports boat thread that the M20 worlds will conflict with CRW?? Too bad, hope we get a good crowd.

I've only ever been in the offshore bits, and was thinking to do the same for my first race week as a skipper. Will see!

Hello. Although not involved in CRW, I am taking delivery of a new 38' boat in Charleston, around May 1. I'm joining a growing legion of people fed up with California and moving out of this communist, one-party, once-great state. I need to find furnished housing for about a month while I'm commissioning the boat, then I need to find a short-term berth (having moved aboard by then) for a few weeks while I get the boat dialed in. Suggestions welcomed!

Move to Florida. You’ll get along great with the Governor and all the rest of the MAGA types.

Glad you are leaving California. The less of your type around, the better.

One party state? Tell that to the speaker of the house, and leader of the insurrectionist caucus, Kevin Mccarthy, ya dumb bastard

As a matter of fact douchebag, that's exactly what I'm doing. The less of your type I have to deal with, the better. Oh- by the way: I bet you weren't born in California.

Third generation. I remember when my grandparents backyard was orange groves. Then they decided growing houses paid better.

Clean is correct. You aren’t going to do real well in Charleston.

You absolute idiot, there is obviously a vibrant and intellectually honest two party system operating in the great state of California. If you can't see that, then we will not accept you for any yacht racing in our fair east coast township. Be gone with you, potential competitor. Be gone!

A couple observations about Charleston: The people are unbelievably nice, like really, truly unbelievably nice. It's weird. The sailing is very challenging. Wind is very shifty, gusty and hard to predict. Currents are preposterous. Mudbanks that form and disappear add to the comedy. Big ships roll through the narrow channel at speed and every day some kook tries to sail or motor in front of them. Way too many kooks in overpowered, light blue motorboats. Lots of extremely nice sailing vessels there. Lots of very nice sailors. As in most places it's probably best to keep your political and religious views to yourself.
