Charter a Brand New Viper at Bucket List Regatta for only UKP 650 (US$ 850)!!!

Palma and the Trofeo Princessa Sofia has always been on my bucket list. Since I left my Olympic campaign about 30 years too late  it wasnt looking like I was going to check this one off.   But then the RCNP,  a local Viper owner called Peter Brennan and Rondar put this together.  https://www.vipersailpalma.com/

Mmmm. One is sorely tempted. The price is ridiculously compelling .   Balearic Islands. Spanish wine. Cool medieval town. 4 days racing fast sailboats on the Med............

Is Palma nice at that time of year?  Help me resist temptation.

Definitely, if you haven’t been to Palma and spent some time in the old town and the island? You’re missing out!

Sorry, not helping with the temptation part of the request.  :p

hmmmm, wife has been looking at air prices too...….
At that charter fee, either the builder or someone else is sponsoring this program. I'm not knocking it. It is a fantastic deal but it surely must be a subsidized deal.

The charter fee + airfare is less money than chartering boats locally in the US.  Although I have never been to Spain let alone Majorca, I have a feeling a week in Palma might triumph over a week in April in Annapolis.

Good Luck. Will results be published somewhere?

It is for any of 5 events .  Jan and Feb have already occurred.  March, May and June still in front of us.  I think one of them has sold out.

I have become very interested in the March event because the Trofeo Princessa Sofia is such a bucket list event.  The problem for me is its short notice and Im not sure I can organize crew etc,,  but I am thinking seriously about it because there are locals available and I have friends in the UK who are interested. Stifflers Mom recommends the May event so if I cannot get my act together for March I will look at that.

Here is a shot from the January event

Palma is lovely... DO IT!
Thanks.   I called Rondar.  I am wait listed for Trofeo Sofia and have a firm reservation for the Trofeo Vela in May.

I am excited and looking forward to it. I will need to organize my crew. The emphasis will be on a vacation with some good racing thrown in.

The charters are jointly organized by Rondar and a local group led by Peter Brennan who lives in Palma.  They are well on their way to developing an annual Winter/Spring series based in Palma. Peter's enthusiasm is infectious and he has gotten Rondar's full support.

The fleet is currently a mix of local Vipers,  UK owners who have brought their boats down for a January - June series (with the boats stored in Palma) and 6 charter boats.  Their primary objective of the charters is attracting new owner  that will participate in future winter series- "the regattas are a mouthwatering opportunity to demo the boat" - so  naturally Peter and Paul Young are giving priority to  Europeans and Majorca locals.....(hence I am wait list for Princessa Sofia which is a big attraction for Brits and Europeans) but they are happy to have a some long distance visitors .Peter's theory is that once we try sailing in Palma, we will want more :)

I did the Palma Vela. It was fantastic. I’m sitting in Madrid airport on my way home.

Im having a problem uploading images from my phone but I have lots of pictures .

The Vipers were lined up waiting for us , right in front of the RCNP club house, ready to race!

Got off the plane , dropped bags at hotel in the old town, walked to club, changed into kit , stepped into boat and 1 hour after landing we were out for a practice sail in the Med
