I need to add a sign that displays my draft. More than one boat tried to anchor next to me and ran aground.

You’ll get there. The UK has its own beauty. Find the sacred in the commonplace.
Thank you. I really enjoyed reading your journey and this thread, it's been inspirational. I tip my hat to you, you overcame the obstacles, did it and are now enjoying it fully.
I understand what you mean about enjoying the sacred in my own Country, I have tried to do it. I must admit the freezing mist rolling of the hills into the anchorage and across the boat does have it's charm, until day 5 of no solar lol. I am really lucky that I have a wife who wants the same as me, but I may copy your idea and fly her out to meet me in the Carribean ;) Thank you for your posts, they have been really helpful and insightful.
I wish you all the best in everything you do.

Thank you for your kind words. We bumble along as best we can. I think the trick is to be stubborn and blind enough to keep bumbling. If I’d had my way, I’d have had my wife come with me, but with hindsight it was the right call. I’d be single handing right now if she had.

The signal to noise ratio varies, but some of the best advice I’ve gotten and some of my best sailing friends have come through this website.

On your way to the Caribbean the long trip across the Atlantic is the easiest one? Whatever it is, pick the easy one for a first one. For my wife it was Antigua to Guadeloupe- a day trip shorter than what we sail in Maine and no more “offshore “.

I like that image of the freezing mist rolling across the hills - hopefully there is a heater and maybe a toddy waiting on board.

I read somewhere that one strategy is to play loud music and walk around on deck totally nude when other boats come close...scares people away :)
Heh. We were settled for the night on one of our moorings when the clown 2 over decided to fire up his gen set and watch TV. Volume up.

After 5 minutes, we looked at each other, went 'You're thinking what I'm thinking'. Started the engine and fucked off - with a close by pass to express our unhappiness.

You're very welcome, you've done extremely well, utmost respect to you. I'll be blind and stubborn enough to keep going :). It's -3c right now, down to -6c tomorrow evening maybe with a touch of snow, but currently in a tee shirt with the chinaspacher working very well (2 years and still no issues apart from a glow plug (5 min job)). I'm off grid, running the heater, TV (subscribtion), charging phones etc, even had the fridge going although it's colder outside lol. It's taken me a while to figure out my energy needs/supply on a 32ft boat, but all good.
I figure if we can do this in the dark of winter (was dusk at 4.45pm today) then it should be great for the tropics.
Anyway, what you have done is great, enjoy the rest of your life journey, keep being inspirational my friend.

That's when it is handy to have the electric guitar and a portable (but loud AF) amp.

As tempting as it is, I make a rule to avoid trying to out-asshat those individuals who have a lifetime of experience and no sense of limits.

Well, you have a good point and I apologize for all my past transgressions, but as my wife once tried to explain to some asshat's wife, "You better get your husband away from my husband, he's a MUCH bigger asshole than yours will ever amount to." But most of the time I try hard to be nice.
