I don't know Sleeman's but cream ale I tend to avoid in favour of the low gravity English pint on the hand pull. I tried poutine a couple of times in Montreal. It didn't grab me.
It's foul.

It used to be that every small town that had some dairy cattle thereabouts had a dairy making cheese from the milk of those cows. Very local conditions make for very local cheese. The flavour of the cheese is largely based on what the cows ate. And that was influenced by feed choices, soil conditions, etc.

Sadly far too many of those small dairies have gone out of business.

Wait until you try Tillamook Icecream!

All their products are great and especially for sailors. They even have a schooner in their parking lot.

Stopped in there a couple of years ago while vacationing in the PNW. What an atrocious display of what's wrong with 'Merica. I'm guessing the average adult weight was #250 + and God help you if you got between one of those assholes and the sample tray. You would either be trampled or runover by their Rascal scooter. Don't even ask about the line for ice cream.

But I do like me some Tillamook Cheese. Rouge Creamery is a bit down state from Tillamook and they turn out some excellent cheeses.

One of my favorite places to get cheese in NYC would put out 1-1.5 lbs bags of "odds and ends" on certain nights. It is $3 or $5 / lb. As the name implies, you get an array of whatever strange pieces were left from the day's cutting. Over the last 20 years, I've had some great and a few not so great cheeses that way. The large issue being I have no idea what cheese or brand they were since they're unlabeled chunks tossed into a bag. I used to bring them to parties and people would laugh, but, invariably, I would be asked whether I was bringing my "cheese bags" the next time. One sample attached

There are lots of small cheese makers in my region. Dauighter worked for a regional packer for a while and brought us marvelous samples.

We have a nearby small cheese dairy farm in Elberta, Alabama. SWEET HOME CHEESE FARM has a small roadside kiosk of sorts that you go pick out the cheese you want and pay by the honor system.
