I am invading your thread from West Michigan. Was down for the NOOD this weekend from Muskegon, with my boat and had a great time! My general impressions were as follows:

1. On the water race management was outstanding. We were on Circle A in PHRF 2 and got in 8 races.

2. On shore regatta management left a little to be desired.

3. Was surprised that class flags were not provided to competitors. I guess the assumption is that everyone carries a set of numeral pennants so that when you finally find out what class designation you are in, at registration, you can just grab one out of your kit. Us...we spend Thursday night scrambling to first manufacture a number 5 pennant and then get one from West Marine at the last minute Friday AM. Good lesson for next year.

4. Parties were distinctly average.

5. Sailing, especially Friday, was outstanding.

Cheers. See you all at the Mac!

My name is Maria Skorcz, and I will be a senior at the University of Notre Dame in the fall. I have been a collegiate sailor for the past 3 years. At ND, I crew 420s and compete throughout the Midwest in the MCSA. I also have some small experience sailing on big boats. I am living and working downtown this summer, and I would love to continue to sharpen my sailing skills this summer. Please contact me at mskorc[email protected] if you are in need of a collegiate crew for the summer!

For those of you that get Sailing World, turn to the Sailor's Forum on page 10 of the June 2013 issue. Notice the letter in the bottom left corner.

One of our own can actually write as well as sail!!!

Good stuff at CYC tonight with Ken Read talking about the Volvo race. Glad my wife is a rockstar sailor who got herself & me invited. Great footage of that insane race.

Big thanks to free agent for being awesome and picking our crew out of the water! you rock!
And Kudo's to the RC for the redress given to FA.

Yes, Free Agent was a ways behind us coming into the mark when that happened. Sounds like they did everything possible to take care of first things first- crew in the cold water. With their redress they corrected over everbody to 1st in that race. Including us.

GREAT! I applaud the redress given. People need to be rewarded for doing the right thing and responding to an emergency, rather than worry about getting "skinned" for it. That was absolutely the right example to make to the sailing fleet. If in doubt, be generous under those circumstances.

Take Ms. Skorcz above and introduce her to Chicago sailing.

I may be free, what kind of beer do you guys have?
Is there racing tomorrow?

Who wants to get out on the water tomorrow but does not have a ride? We may be in need of a body or two...

People,

Looking for a ride from Chicago to lovely Waukegan IL on Sunday AM. Option 2: I would drive up Sunday AM and give my car to someone to drive it back to Chicago. PM me. Thanks.
