My shore bag never arrived on the Island last week and it has come to my attention that I was not the only one to have this problem. In years past you would hear occasional stories about a bag or maybe two that disappeared, this year I have heard of more than that, perhaps because I was missing my bag and was more in tune with it.

Who else, or heard of someone, did not get their bag this year?

In a moment of frustration I suggested that I was going to file a police report as I considered it a theft the rep from the ferry line was VERY quick to tell me not to do that, that these things work them self out and it would show up. We yesterday I heard of another sailor missing their bag with the same advice from the ferry company.

I am looking to see how many others were missing their bag. Is this a problem this year on the Island, or is it an issue with the ferry or hotel company. Not to keen of finding out what their insurance company thinks the value of my stuff is.

Starting to feel like I may have made a mistake in not going to the police.

Tim, how did your bag get to the ferry & where was it going & who was bringing it?

Was discussing with Blubbery that CYC should look onto a bag delivery service. Drop your bag at CYC on Friday, pay your 30$ or whatever & your bag shows up at a determined location on the island. Hell, maybe I'll run it next year.

It was delivered by a reliable and trusted source in a vehicle owned by one of the B.O’s. I put the bag into the SUV myself Saturday AM on top of the auto pilot and under another bag. Per our Sherpa at the dock it was unloaded, all bags were lined up together (mine was notable as it had wheels), Sherpa asked if she could write down numbers and was told “We never lose things here at ***”, and she went to check in at her hotel in Mac City from there it is hazy but all other boat bags including the auto pilot and gas can went onto the ferry and delivered to the Lilac Tree.

When we arrived we did not have the claim tickets as they were in M.City despite that the L.T. said to go ahead and grab your bag never caring to check the validity of the claim of ownership.

Sorry to hear. FWIW, 5 years ago guy doing deliver back w/us didn't get his bag, he had checked and rechecked at most of the hotels to see if it was mis-delivered. As we were heading out on Wed, he got a call that it had been found. Also, a few years ago, one of the crew on EW lost his bag as we headed home. He brought it to the ferry on Mac island, had it tagged, etc and it never showed up in Mac City. As far as I know, that one is still a mystery.

And I agree, CYC offering island bag service is an interesting idea.

Speaking of things going missing...a couple years ago, someone swiped the Grateful Dead flag from Renegade (originally a Folie flag), the following year the thief or thief's BO returned it. Last week it disappeared again, was taken on Wed between 1 AM - 4 AM. If anyone knows where it is, I can tell you the guys don't get it and really don't care who did it or why, they'd just like the flag back.

On the return trip I once had all our bags end up on the wrong ferry, ended up in st. Ignace. That mixup can't really happen on the ferry to the island, unless there's a second Mac island I don't know about.

Several times I have fed ex'd or ups'd my shore bag up to the island to my hotel. Cost like $30-$40. Well worth it over relying on friendly Sherpas and then marching all over to various Sherpas hotels to figure out where it went.

Good luck locating your bags, that really sucks

The GD flag from Renegade (the Folie a Deux battle flag) is one of a kind - if any one sees it or knows its whereabouts please return, or ask it to be returned either to Renegade or to Columbia Yacht club - Larry and the rest of the Folie alumni would be grateful.

Besides - its bad karma to steal...
