Check out the view of the 2013 Mac Race from QuickSilver's perspective.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
That was one to miss...................
BTW - the way the helmsman is hiking (legs in and torso outside the lifelines is not legal. I don't particularly care but in anybody had protested you, you would get ditched. Might want to bear that in mind for the future.
RRS Rule 49:
"49 CREW POSITION
49.1 Competitors shall use no device designed to position their bodies
outboard, other than hiking straps and stiffeners worn under the
thighs.
49.2 When lifelines are required by the class rules or the sailing instructions
they shall be taut, and competitors shall not position any part of
their torsos outside them, except briefly to perform a necessary task.
On boats equipped with upper and lower lifelines of wire, a competitor
sitting on the deck facing outboard with his waist inside the lower
lifeline may have the upper part of his body outside the upper lifeline."
It depends on your definition of "them". Is "them" collective, meaning outside* both of them, or is it individual, meaning outside either/any of them? In this case, he was clearly inboard one of them, and depending on your definition, was in compliance.
The case history doesn't address this crew position:

Since Christian is obviously an expert, he should cite the penalty alternatives, where he comes up with "ditched", I've never seen that one.
*presumably meaning "outboard" not "outside".
Ummm, I got highjacked at the dock as I was strolling by?How did that old guy, SA's own Big Chicken, get in the video?? Congratulations on your victory

It's been a real pleasure sailing with Gint and crew the last five years. We worked very hard for this year's win and now having tasted victory I'm sure the crew will be trying for many more.
The video is great, but it reminds me of how flat it was. I'd already been through a number of therapy sessions to put it out of mind!
Yeah, there were a number of points when taking life with a grain of salt paid big dividends in the big picture.Nicely done vid and congrats on the result. Is nice to see a crew that does not take themselves to seriously-am sure that attitude paid big dividends when the black flies and heat came into play.
Mike had attached his GoPro to the end of a boat hook to get those shots.Sweet video. What did you use to get some of that video from the angles over the water? Congrats on the result, glad I tracked that one from shore!
