Our last race meet on Saturday. First death we've had in I'd guess over a decade or more. Safer than yacht racing in a lot of ways. The 10mtr platform he hit had a camera guy on top of it, he survived with minor injuries, the driver died at the scene. RIP Sam.

Funny... I never wore a life jacket when I was learning to sail. I know there was one in the dinghy, but I never put it on as far as I can remember..... Maybe that's what's wrong with me. I was under protected as a child!

Just so you all know, I spent two years as the youth group leader at my former church. I know it's hard to believe, but I didn't assfuck any kids.
I know that's hard for y'all to comprehend, because you just KNOW that every single pastor and every "youth group leader" in the world is just a perverted, throbbing erection aching for satisfaction, and nothing else. Ditto for Boy Scout scoutmasters, and Sea Scout skippers, of course. And youth sailing coaches.

1967 on our way back from Mexico, a 6+ hour layover in New Orleans. My parents, my sister, myself and family friends comprising of husband, wife, and son....
Apparently we ended up in the French Quarter at some point. I was little.I was tired. I lagged behind. I heard spectacular music. I walked in to a dark room through a bead curtain..... There were nearly naked women with big bouncy breasts, and cool guys with side burns, and the music was just intoxicating! (It might have been the ambient smoke too).... I just stood and watched those women dance and twirl the tassels on their boobies, and cuddle and hug the patrons....... and next thing I know I hear loud voices behind me.
My father and our friend were looking for me. The door man/bouncer said "Ain't no lil boy come in here! You wanna look around, gonna cost you $2...... EACH.....".
I became very small. Even smaller than I was. A beautiful, nearly naked woman with absolutely spectacular boobies squatted down next to me and said something. I nodded. She took my hand and led me to the doorway, where the beaded curtain was. "Antoine! I think this is the kid they're looking for!" and next thing I know I'm out on the sidewalk getting scolded not to lag behind and I remember my mother saying "Don't you ever go in to a place like that again!" And my father and the friend snickering....
I could have spent my entire life in that place as far as I was concerned..... Soft, curvy women, very cool music, and soft curvy women who were really nice, and kind, and soft and curvy......

Sadly its a simple fact that organised activities that attract children, attract organisers attracted to children. Here, even sailing clubs have to have anyone working with or supervising children get a "Working with Children" ID card police check with Photograph. ( Hi Dog II )
