What wings are you running? Been seeing some popping up used for good prices, but usually in the 5m+ range which I'm guessing would be overpowered on snow a lot of days but maybe appropriate for water @ ~180lbs.
My "beater" wing is the Robbie Naish 5 meter, my pampered light air wing is the Naish 6.8 meter wing and my unmolested heavy air wing is the Slingshot 4 meter.

All of these are too big for my son, I plan to build a 3 meter noninflatable wing for him for light air and maybe the same for me for really heavy air.

If you can get a used one at a good price, I suspect you won't regret it. I haven't used any of my kites since I got into wings.

My 5 meter wing is really versatile, you would like one, it isn't too big for snow. The trick is just to stay light on your toes and be ready to depower at any time. What would you use, skis, snowboard, powder surfer? Powder surfer is my ride of choice for snow and wing.

The wings are good investments, you can use them with skis, SUPS, foils, snowboards, skateboards, skates, whatever. And no need to stress over trees and powerlines with the kites.

I'd be using the wing with skis and snowboard during the winter, maybe a SUP in the summer. I've got a set of short/fat AT skis I use for approaches and being able to take some of the effort out of that would be great for bow hunting.

Good to hear 5m is workable. I'm looking at an OR Glide that fits in the toy budget.

My Slingshot has a similar handle arrangement as the Ocean Rodeo, I sometimes miss the handles on the leading edge. It has one right in the front for depowering, but the Naish wings have handles across the leading edge, and the larger Naish has the Y-handle to the leading edge. It really helps lower fatigue when riding in cross-winds.

If you only get one wing, I think those leading edge handles add a lot to the comfort and control of the wing in crosswinds. In German unfortunately, but this guy went from the Slingshot like mine, to the Slingwing, with the leading edge handles, he talks about it.

Short skis would be awesome with a wing, easier to tack and gybe and then depower when necessary. I want to get a cheap SUP for the wing next summer, kinda get the hang of it with the SUP before going to a foil, where the real magic happens with these wings.

I got my beater wing used, some of these foil riders just like the newest stuff each year. It was a good deal used, I think $350 or $400 or so, and I don't mind beating it up.

Just a reminder ... according to the eminent climatologist, Greta Thunberg, we have 17 more days to stop using fossil fuels or all of humanity will be wiped out.

There is no climate emergency

A global network of over 1609 scientists and professionals has prepared this urgent message. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures.

Natural as well as anthropogenic factors cause warming

The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet has existed, with natural cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.

Warming is far slower than predicted

The world has warmed significantly less than predicted by IPCC on the basis of modeled anthropogenic forcing. The gap between the real world and the modeled world tells us that we are far from understanding climate change.

Climate policy relies on inadequate models

Climate models have many shortcomings and are not remotely plausible as global policy tools. They blow up the effect of greenhouse gases such as CO2. In addition, they ignore the fact that enriching the atmosphere with CO2 is beneficial.

CO2 is plant food, the basis of all life on Earth

CO2 is not a pollutant. It is essential to all life on Earth. Photosynthesis is a blessing. More CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the Earth: additional CO2 in the air has promoted growth in global plant biomass. It is also good for agriculture, increasing the yields of crops worldwide.

Global warming has not increased natural disasters

There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent. However, there is ample evidence that CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly.

Climate policy must respect scientific and economic realities

There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050. If better approaches emerge, and they certainly will, we have ample time to reflect and re-adapt. The aim of global policy should be ‘prosperity for all’ by providing reliable and affordable energy at all times. In a prosperous society men and women are well educated, birthrates are low and people care about their environment.

Epilogue

The World Climate Declaration (WCD) has brought a large variety of competent scientists together from all over the world*. The considerable knowledge and experience of this group is indispensable in reaching a balanced, dispassionate and competent view of climate change.

From now onward the group is going to function as “Global Climate Intelligence Group”. The CLINTEL Group will give solicited and unsolicited advice on climate change and energy transition to governments and companies worldwide.

Goodness refuting that rubbish is boring, we already played this game years ago, it is a collection of random people working in unrelated fields.
This is a few years back and focussed on stupid Aussies.

Now we are past the stupid lets look at facts.
Antarctic sea ice extent lowest on record.

4 out of 5 Emporer Penguin breeding colonies failed in one area in 2023 due to sea ice breaking up.
predictions that over 90% of emperor penguin colonies will be quasi-extinct by the end of the century, based on current global warming trends
